I usually get directly infront of girls. When I think about it it seems a bit scary. A stranger directly blocks your way and tells you that you look cute. (By the way are there any guides you can recommend for this stopping style? maybe I do something wrong.)

Other approach is tapping from back of shoulder with saying 'excuse me' or whatever. This is Todd V recommends at The System. This looks like it makes it too easy for her to walk away, I've never tried this approach.
