I don’t agree with this, people have different sides to themselves. If you got a girlfriend your definitely gonna act a little different with her in public than you will in private.

There’s also a level of the stuff just becomes part of your personality and you become more of the person girls like and people wanna be around.

The whole be yourself thing is not good advice if yourself isn’t getting you the things you want in life. Most guys on here never developed social skills when they were younger, they formulated a personality based on the environment they grew up in. I don’t think someone who wasn’t popular or desired by women in his developmental years should remain that way for the rest of his life is just silly. It’s like telling someone who was poor that they should remain poor and not try to get a better job cuz that’s not genuine to who they are.

After about 6 months you start becoming the person you wanna be and can be. After a year of change you become your best self and your personality will change. I don’t think someone should lie about liking video games if that’s what they like but they should develop to be comfortable enough to say that to women in a way that has the girls want to be with them.

There are two parts of "being yourself". When people are talking about that, for some reasons they don't make a distinction.

Image - it is how you see yourself. If I ask you a question "What kind of person you are", you would say something like, "I am shy/outgoing/funny/confident/not-confident etc."
Expression - it is how you express your image. You can be funny person with your friends but you are not with girls, due to social fears or other reasons. To express yourself is hard, no doubt about that.

So to be good with girls by being yourself. You have to:

Change your image about yourself. You can't think of yourself as not confident, not funny, not sexual, a loser and then expect good results.
Learn to express that. So even if you think that you are someone who deserves a beautiful woman, you have to show that to her. Fears are the most common reasons which prevents us to do so (e.g. fear of rejection, fear of other people opinion, fear of embarrassment etc.)

So, a fat guy who stays at home eats pizza and drinks lots of beer wants to fuck victoria secret models. Would you tell him to just be himself and he'll be fine, just to improve his current personality but to mostly be himself? No, you'll tell him to change his habits and life around which will change his personality as well, sure there will be some core characteristics that will be the same, but a lot will have to change.
