ask a question for yourself then, like asking her if she’s had an experience that you’ve had, and likely when she says no you can share an anecdote about yourself

You don't have to wait for her to ask. You can talk about stuff you love and do without asking. And when you talk, be enthusiastic and laugh.

About asking questions, she clearly means the infamous Interview mode: Where are you from? How do you like it? Where did you grow up? Do you have siblings.... questing questions... but no direction. You ask questions for a reason. Let's face it, this is some random girl. Do you really care all about her having little brother?

Try this, confidently:

Nice backpack! Where did you get it? [pull] ... eh H&M?

Great, thanks, I was looking for a gift to my grandmother, this is exactly her style, you think she will like it? [push] ... What? I dunno... She is in her head, thinking if she has grandmother style, angry at you that you suggest something like this.

So I do have to ask what kind of date was this? "Sit and talk" basically over meal or coffee. Because if she is shy, and you're asking 1000 questions to keep the conversation flowing, at some point it becomes an interrogation rather than a date. If you think or know she's a shy/quiet type always opt for activity dates.

I personally love talkive girls, since I'm usually the quiet one, those are ones where you can ask just a few of the "right" questions. Make sure there open-end questions. You sit and listen.
