Is it wrong to ask my science teacher about sex ed?

Former health and PE teacher here. all teachers are pretty wary about talking to student about sex because there are things teachers can say that can land you in trouble. not your fault. depending on the school/state there is often a curriculum that must be followed. so basically what i am telling you is that you asked the wrong teacher. Ask a health/pe teacher that is trained to teach sex ed. if that doesnt work you can read lesson plans for what you could be taught. Here is a resource that I hope helps. not sure if the lessons are good or not havent went through them but hope this helps. they are lessons for california sex ed. at any grade level.

i’m sure you have pure intentions.

however, that line of questioning can open up a large, unwanted can of lawsuit worms for any teacher who might take the bait.

you’re better off asking another close adult or a mentor who’s not financially bound to you.

That sounds completely inappropriate of the teacher to yell at you (msg you aggressively?), If they can't answer the questions for any reason then they should direct you to someone that can. Also High school and they still haven't taught Sex Ed wow! Up here in the frozen lands of Canada we get taught that in Elementary

No it is not ok to ask your science teacher about that. That person has a curriculum to teach and needs to stick to it thing relevant to it. That person is also probably not qualified to give a sex ed class and could get in trouble for it. You should talk to a qualified person. Does your school has a counselor or school nurse? Those are the people that can help you.

And let's face it if you are on reddit it means you were just being a smartass. If you have the internet and can read you can damn well educate yourself pretty well on that subject.

Former HS science teacher here. You were definitely not wrong, your teacher was, however she also showed you that she was not the right person to explain it. If there is a teacher you know and trust, in any subject, ask him/her, you will learn more than your science is able to teach you. Hang in there!

I’m sure your parents would much rather you ask them then to go to someone outside the family or to potentially get into an unsafe position by starting a thread online. Your parents want to help and answer questions for you.

Tbh, I find it kinda odd, especially if your teacher is the opposite gender. You have youtube for this stuff no need to involve a science teacher.

I'm sorry that you're in highschool with no formal education on this... Have you thought about simply asking here? And may I ask where you're from? You're not in the wrong or a perv but a simple google search will probably answer any questions you have though it is totally normal for schools to teach about sex beginning in middle school even... in Ny a decade ago they taught us plenty with an emphasis on STDs lol
