As we head closer to finalizing things in what has been a pleasantly uneventful mediation. 50/50 everything (custody assets etc ..) - we still have a good relationship, we just can’t be married anymore - a new issue has arisen!

My father isn’t going to make it long, he will pass before anything is finalized. I don’t know exactly what or how much, but i do stand to inherit significant cash/stocks and a vacant rental home he owns. I fear she’ll see the value and want in on it. (that I know of - the home is estimated at $400k, the stocks and money ~250k, idk if things lost a little value or if there’s more involved).

On the flip side; her father is older, and is selling a building and business that values at over $2.5 mil. She and her sibling stand to inherit that whenever that happens.

If she can go after mine - can I make a claim to go after hers when it happens? My general thought is to bring both of these things up and just say “you keep yours, I keep mine.”

How would you proceed based on your experience?
