Women get a shitload more free checkups, swabs, smears etc paid for by the state (as usual) so there's more incentive to go.

If you look at the US under obamacare 2012 ,girls get free screenings for eating disorders, anxieties, stress etc paid for by the state. Boys dont.

This is what Richard Reeves was saying about studies repeatedly seeing girls suffering more from anxiety and depression, of course they do if theyre being screened more for free. As doctors dont bill the state for screening boys, they're not going to screen boys.

This is clearly female privilege in healthcare.

...and they are going to lay all the blame on men for their lifestyles and "choosing" to not go to the doctor, when the larger problem is neglect from the medical community, itself.

As chance would have it I just made my '50th' check up appointment.

I had to firmly insist to the receptionist that male sexual (prostate) factors be included in my blood tests. You really need to be a pushy advocate for yourself in female run healthcare.

Everyone reading this should take time to get his regular comprehensive physical as it can be a matter of life and death.

I’ve been saying it for a while. Women say doctors don’t take their health concerns seriously, I believe them. However, I don’t know why they believe it’s uniquely affecting them. Doctors are people and a lot of people simply don’t give a shit about others.

The report reveals men are deterred from seeking help because of 'stigma' or 'traditional masculine norms', which suggest they should 'man-up' and endure pain or risk being ridiculed by women for having 'man flu'.

Gosh, I wish men were more self aware when it comes to the women they stick with… so many premature deaths could be avoided lol.

That's an interesting, but also rather sad subject. Actually a 4 year gap is (unfortunately) pretty normal. There are countries like Lithuania where the gap is at 6 years as far as I know. And those gaps exist because quite a lot of men die pretty early. It's those early deaths that cause the gap to be that wide. I don't live in the UK and I don't know anything about the screenings offered by the NHS. I'd love to know though. Also to compare the situation with what is offered in my country (Germany). Are PSA tests free? Here they are not, but the DRE is very unreliable. Are colonoscopies or flu shots offered for free and at what age? Here it's usually at 60 for both men and women even though men tend to struggle more because men tend to have a weaker immune response for biological reasons. In my country men can get their first colonoscopy for free at age 50. That's 5 years earlier than for women because men have a higher risk of colon cancer. My urologist reminded me last year and this year of that colonoscopy and then I even got a letter from my health insurance (I am turning 50 soon). I still wonder how many men take advantage of it. Even after 60 most people just don't get a flu shot. Lots of men don't go to any screening. You can't force them. I have no idea how you can change that. What do you find challenging in order to lead a healthy life and to access health services because of your gender? You can also dm me.
