So, I will admit that I was a bit depressed as a married parent trying to find myself and take care of my family. I have fully embraced something someone said in this forum recently’ “I’d rather be 100%, 50% of the time instead of 50%, 100% of the time.” I’ve been engaging, doing fun things and really being present and showing up for my kid.

I think my ex was blowing it up in my face a bit but this last week crushed me. Scenario below.

Ex had softball practice on her parenting day, brought daughter along. Daughter was being a bit clingy and wanted to engage my ex. Ex pulled away (same old story) and told daughter she was busy. My daughter then said, “fine, I’ll just run away.” Ex said”ok, bye.”

Well, turns out she did that and ended up 2 miles away and with the cops. It was also our monthly meeting and I was told the whole story. My ex said out daughter apologized up and down and won’t ever do it again….. my response, “and you take no responsibility for what happened?” I wanted to light her up, but I pivoted right away and said it’s not my place to tell her how to parent.

I mean, WTF!? As if my kid and I haven’t had to deal with enough, now she blatantly blames my kid for her being dismissive. Sorry, I just need to vent because this kid is my everything when she is with me and her mom seems to always point the finger at everyone but herself. It did bring me some personal validation.
