I really got into skiing with my kid at the end of last year. I moved to CO for this and the outdoor lifestyle with my newlywed wife almost 20 years ago. Now that my daughter is almost 10 I am able to dive deeper into this every season and build a shared love of the outdoors.

Anyway, my work pays for a ski pass for me, but it doesn’t come along with a pass for my kid. The total cost of her pass added on comes to less than $300. So, I asked the ex if she’d like to split this with me and I got the “nope.” You should have seen the look on the faces of the guys I work with when I told them she wouldn’t split it. These guys all know my ex and I think this was that real eye opener about who she is.

I hate to say it, but I took it as a reality check and validation of who this person really is and always has been. Rose color glasses, the grass is greener type vibes all around. I almost want to look at her funny the first time she brings my kid up to the mountain and asks for her pass (I would 100000% not do this because my child doesn’t deserve to get mixed up in it). I’m using it as another way to heal and grow, but really, wrf?
