39m/co. Divorce was “amicable,” she still wanted to be, “best friends.” 9yr old daughter was split 50/50 for co-parenting. Had a house worth around $500k, she let me buy her out (mom took out a HELOC to help me, love you mom). She wasn’t working when we got the loan, so I was the only one on the 3% mortgage. Live in summit county, co, think ski resorts and postcard views everywhere. Finalized in mid-May.

We were together for 23 years and married for 15. She already had her new GF and they are in deep already, almost like I was dead weight to shed off. GF is long distance and they are practicing the poly lifestyle.

I have since gotten my balls back, rebuilt friendships I set aside to help her through her “depression,” I do all of the things with my kiddo and I am exploring new relationships.

I’ve kept my personal life private from her and am not looking to be friends anymore, just effective co-parents. I also stick up for myself and my kids best interests.

In hindsight, I was taking the advice of a few good friends and just playing it cool through the divorce. She must have been love drunk because she didn’t go after any of my money, the house or the kid. I think there is some resentment now though, I walked away and have cut her out of my circle. I still struggle with it and I think time is slowly healing my wound. It was the best for us both in reality.

Hang in there guys, it is so tough but you have to take care of you now. Deep down I’m worried that she is going to bed to come back after she spends all the money and her GF falls apart, luckily I have my old crew back and they are going to be there to keep me straight if this comes to pass.

Also, don’t worry about the stories. She needs to be the hero and tell everyone how I was the villain. As a matter of fact, all she seems to do is hang out, drink, smoke pit and dunk on me and my friends about how we have no life. Meanwhile, I took my kid to the water park, whitewater kayaking and started playing Fortnite with her last weekend. Actions speak louder than words and your kids know.
