I'm not sure what to do because I have utterly destroyed the trust in our relationship. Several years ago I cheated on her and we've been working on things and there have been a lot of bumps in the road along the way with my ability to be honest. After the one time cheating, I never crossed that boundary again, but the damage was done. She was really amazing through the whole process in finding me therapy, encouraging me, and being mostly supportive. I royally messed it all up and now a separation and ultimately end of our relationship is looming. We have two young kids and I don't want them to be concerned with abandonment. I'm not sure on what route I need to go. We need space from each other and I need to move out. I don't know what to do. Do I suggest an actual legal separation? Or just start the divorce process?
