Been separated about 2 years and agreed to pay generous maintenance to support ex and help her through the process of buying her own place, gave her most of the proceeds of sale of the family home too. I don't begrudge this as I want our child (whom she mostly has custody of) to have a comfortable life. I am considering reducing what I pay though as she just seems to be wasting the money on holidays whilst our kid is outgrowing his clothes, which is requiring me to step in and buy stuff for him. I'm also taking a small salary reduction to change careers so maintaining the full amount would be harder (but not impossible). I feel shitty about it but at the end of the day I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. What do you guys think?
