Tldr: If you're in a domestic violence situation don't be afraid to call the police just because you're the male. I was afraid to call so many times because of that

To make a very long story short my wife has been abusive for years. I was about to move out last weekend when, again, she convinced me to stay. She very pretty and knows how to push my buttons. Also, to be fair she booked her first therapy appointment, which I'd been demanding for months. I honestly thought 'Okay now she's going to start making some real changes.'

Last night we go out for dinner. We're having a nice time having cocktails and joking. When out of nowhere, she pulls out her phone and starts going through it. Then, she starts bitching at me about a woman that I haven't seen or talked to in 5 years who liked a picture on my Facebook. To give you an idea how screwed up things are I had blocked my own wife on Facebook like a year ago because she uses it as a mechanism for abuse. Apparently she created a new profile. Needless to say it ruined the night.

We went home where she proceeded to treat me like garbage as if I did something wrong. One thing led to another argument ensued.

I was trying to sleep when she just kept bitching as she does. I told her she was a shitty person and then she attacked me while I laid curled up in the fetal position, and clawed in my face so hard her acrylic nails broke off. She left substantial scratches across my face neck and chest. This is not the first time she's attacked me, but it is the first time she's left substantial marks like this.

Well to make a long story even short I finally called 911. The cops came about an hour later. I was sleeping in the bedroom and she was in the living room because I didn't expect the cops to ever show up. One of them knocked on my bedroom door.

When I opened the door he shined a light in my face. His eyes got visibly wide as he saw my injuries. He told me to stay put. He walked around the corner of the hall made a signal to his partner and I heard them slap on handcuffs and her start to cry.

She's in jail on a 12-hour hold. I'm at home and I have to get out of here. I have nowhere to go.

I feel bad on some aspects because she's in a heap of trouble. I don't even have a choice not to press charges. In our state on a domestic battery the state presses the charges.

Well, if this isn't the end of this marriage I don't know what is. Trying to find a place to live immediately is going to be tough. I don't make much money because I'm a law student of all things.

I guess the take away for you guys is that if you're in a domestic violence situation don't be afraid to call the police just because you're the male. I was afraid to call so many times because of that.

The cops took zero sympathy on her. And the vibe I got from them was "Good job on calling, fuck that bitch".
