Or more along the lines of – do you think having a specific fragrance helped you attract someone’s notice in a positive way? Intentional or not, obviously, I feel like it’s those little things about yourself that you don’t think about that much (though some people think about more than is healthy) that sometimes end up paying off in the most unexpected ways.

I was personally never much of a dude for having unnecessary smells on myself. Some deodorant to not sweat and regular showers + exercise are usually the way to go, i.e. to have a good natural smell, after all. But I recently decided to mix it up in my life, at least to get a bit out of my shell and try something different so I started putting very light perfume on when I got to my office job. I know this is usually frowned upon, but the office space is really, and I mean really big and people eat much more eh “fragrant” stuff they bring in, so I thought what the hell. It was a really light floral, but still fresh smelling kind of fragrance (Hero by Chez Pierre) that I ordered about a month ago. Didn’t think much of it but after about a week I got a really discreet (non smell related) compliment on how I’ve got style (whatever that means, I usually dress in flannel, denim, and a leather jacket in fall), but she’s kind of alt too so I guess it isn’t that unusual. I just have that subjective feeling that the smell kind of brought my look together or maybe just made me stand out more in the white, pretty deadlooking office. Maybe it was a minor detail, maybe not, but I’m just going off intuition here.

Anyway, I picked up on that and also made some circles around to complimenting her nose piercings in a kind of casual way (same as she did me). Got to flirting a little bit, though it’s still the office so it wasn’t anything that would draw the eye of HR and get people too curious (which I kind of hate). More of a discreet sort of exchange of looks and an odd suggestive word here and there. Long story short, soon as this week started I flat out asked her if she’s anything planned for Thursday (yea, we both have Thu to Fri off, it’s a weird work schedule), and give or take, she took me up on coming back to my place to watch a horror movie and drink some Portuguese wine (I especially ordered because she worked in her early 20s on the Azores and fell in love with the culture there). So… wish me luck, basically hahaha. Just wanted to share this story here for how it’s going for me recently
