That's pretty much my experience in most social settings. The second-to-last movie I saw in a theater, I got there early to find a good seat, and then was asked to move by a family who came late, because the wife thought a lone guy was creepy and she didn't want to have to sit next to me. To add even further insult to the experience, she then proceeded to spend the entire movie bored and on her phone.

The Engine Shed venue has apologised to some male fans who experienced ~~"unacceptable treatment"~~ discrimination when they turned up to watch the show alone.

Why do we have to tap dance around the situation and use flowery language like "unacceptable treatment" when, if this exact situation happened to women the media would be calling it what it is.. Discrimination!

Because that's the part that clearly spells out men being discriminated against by a female band simply because of their gender.

The club, which bills itself as Lincolnshire's largest live music venue, posted a statement on its official Instagram page to say their entry procedure had fallen "far short of our venue entry policy, which requires all attendees to be treated equally and be subject to the same entry requirements".

Here and elsewhere, they act like it was some kind of accident, slip-up, or miscommunication. But it wasn't. An accident would have been, like, barring people at the door because the bouncer didn't know what valid tickets looked like, or putting people in areas that couldn't support them, or promising food and beverages you didn't have, or making everyone wait 3 hours because nobody knew when things were going to happen.

This wasn't remotely like an accident. This was something the entire staff had to go out of their way in order to do. They say it's the result of a policy changed with "good intentions," but no policy that tells people to act like this towards anyone could be anything but malicious.

I've started pulling back or eliminating spending on any such groups or events. Anything that reeks of anti-male I just simply ignore . I will patronize those whom have earned my business as my money is worth more to me than any current trend or novelty.

It’s a university venue at the start of the year so hardly unusual people would show up on their own. The Guardian had an article about this where a woman basically argued that women and minorities get treated like this all the time so men need to learn what it’s like. I don’t know what shows she goes to but I’ve been to see some bands where the fans are 99% men and every woman will get treated great because the hardcore fans really want them to have a good time. Guys that would push and shove other men to get down the front will act like there’s a force field around women or even step away to let them go in front because they don’t want to be the ahole that spoils the show.

Is this the new topic to cover? Like the occurrence isn't new but the attention to it seems to be picking up all of a sudden.

Of course I don't think femmies realize how this can blowback in their faces and they're just going to double down on it out of some misguided sense of revenge.
