Activism:

“the policy or action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or social change.”

“efforts to promote, impede, direct or intervene in social, political, economic or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived common good.”

So if you are engaged in activism as defined, directed towards men’s rights, you can rightfully call yourself a MRA.

Note, some people define MRA as Men’s Rights Advocate. One could argue being an Advocate and being an activist are not one and the same.

Are those same feminist who always deflect proof of feminist doing awful things by saying feminism is not a monolith?

You are if you say you are, and if you advocate for men in any way.

Feminism is definitely a monolith. They have different sects but they all share same basic philosophy and political ideology: Patriarchy. Men are powerful and oppressive and therefore women are justified in taking any political action required to rectify that.

By contrast, MRAs don’t even have a shared philosophy or political ideology. They come from all political spectrums and have different beliefs. MRA is quite literally the opposite of a monolith; It’s a confederation of specific causes (divorce, child custody, false allegations, intactivism, justice system, discrimination, etc) and those issues happen to have a lot of overlap in the venn digram “male problems” so the people involved hang out together for support.

Feminism is rooted in the imaginary and its self perpetuating, always looking and seeking new problems - that is a function of critical theory and dialectic. That makes it monolithic. By contrast, the problems of MRAs are concrete and enumerated by their nature (no other reason to be here) and it all ends when they are solved.
