Simply because the apparent improvements in female heroes has come at the expense of good male characters rather than in tandem with.

Film makers have decided that, in order to show how powerful, smart, competent a female character is, a male character has to be embarrassed or emasculated.

This isn't hard to fix, there are decades of good examples to draw from.

Demonstrate the equality you espouse: insert one putdown for females for every one that you include for males. You will soon lose your female audience as well.

The idea that Hollywood should be "constructing healthier visions of the future” is frightening, given the moral depravity that infests the Hollywood culture, and the anti-male ethos of modern media.

Perhaps we should be looking away from the stagnant swamp of Hollywood sophistry and wokery, and looking more at the creative fire of YouTube and other contempary centres of modern literature.

The article brings up some great points to consider but it’s focusing on the detail while ignoring the overwhelming problem in Hollywood. The problem isn’t so much about how male role models are portrayed, the problem is they aren’t.

Male role models have been given up in favor of women who are portrayed as ethically superior superheroes who always do what’s right and can best a squad of elite men in hand to hand combat, while men are often portrayed as less moral, physically weak and self centered.

Before we debate the best type of male role model, we should first pressure Hollywood to bring back male role models.

At this point i feel like its all a way to get people arguing about stuff. Does anyone else see how the media and politicians always try to get people to be indifferent with each other? There has been a huge push to weaken unity with people and emasculate men as a whole within society.

Hollywood has no obligation other than to make money. As soon as people want to start seeing movies of men winning they'll start making those movies again. Hollywood isn't Mr Rogers.
