I understand some of the concerns about the list – it would be awful if someone who had not committed a crime had their name go public on a bathroom wall with rapists. But the names listed at Columbia have, so far, all been men allegedly found guilty of sexual assault on campus.

Can she not see how she's undermining her own argument?

I have to wonder where the concern is when female students are derided as sluts and whores on anonymous forums like CollegiateACB and Yik Yak, which are widely used on college campuses.

So being a slut/whore is equal to being a rapist? Since when did either of those two terms being uttered equated to being physically assaulted? If you're a rapist, you're fucked socially - especially if you end up in prison. The only thing worse than a rapist is a child molester. (Note: I am not being a rape apologist here.)

It's for that reason false rape claims have so much power.

Whether by a judge's rule or society's stigma, rape victims are often silenced and very rarely get justice.

This statement makes no sense. Justice is served if there is evidence. Better to let a guilty man go free than to let an innocent man rot in jail. Unless he was accused of rape, of course. Then we should just faithfully believe a woman's statement. Because women never lie about rape. Ever.

Rape != Regret.

Remember this is Columbia, an extremely expensive Ivy League school in NYC. These are some of the most privileged and (supposedly) intelligent women on the planet.

And yet they claim to be oppressed and emphatically declare obviously irrational things that amount to "being accused of a crime means you committed that crime (as long as you're male)."

I seriously fear for the future of our country.

This is a power grab at the university, plain and simple.

Coed female gets drunk at a party and ends up in some dude's dorm dorm room. She wakes up naked the next AM next to some dude she either knows or doesn't know all kinds of pissed off.

"OMG... How the fuck did I get here?"

She looks at the dude still passed out in the bed and thinks to herself, "That motherfucker took advantage of me", but she can't say anything to him because she knows he'll laugh in her face.

And if she does say something to him she'll get a response like, "You didn't look like a victim last night when you were sucking on my balls and moaning YES YES YES when I was fucking the shit out of you. That giant wet spot on my sheets you left says otherwise."

So she knows dude will call her out on her bullshit and she storms off forced to take the morning walk of shame.

She broods on this for a little while and eventually tells friends dude took advantage of her - at which at that point it becomes a collective outrage and defined as rape.

Never once did coed female consider how her own actions led her waking up in strange dude's dorm room. She conveniently forgets how she got drunk and hit on this guy, how this guy was himself also drinking at the party, how she when drunk was very horny and very much willingly made out with guy and went back to his room willingly and very much willingly threw herself on the bed and helped him take her clothes off in a drunken haze.

Most importantly she disregards the fact that she very eagerly participated in the sex.

The entire special snowflake bullshit attitude of the coed female is that of a complete and utter lack of personal agency when it comes to partying and sex.

To a Columbia feminist - this girl was raped and they're pissed off because not only will a prosecutor not try a case like this - the police won't even arrest the kid in most cases.

You got drunk at a party and had sex? Yeah, we can't help you.

Now I admit that it's different if the girl is passed out and some asshole has his way with her. That's pathetic and wrong. You should have enough game to be able to pull chicks who are both wonton and lucid. However, in most cases that's not what we are talking about here.

Feminists want to change the definition of rape to include It doesn't matter how much I loved it or wanted it the night before, if I'm drunk when it happens and I wake up the next day with sexual buyer's remorse - you're a rapist

Since they can't get campus police to start arresting these guys, they have turned to the university and said I want these guys expelled from school and universities are now obliging them.

Now there is a big push back happening and NOBODY should be shocked at it.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

She says it's awful if an innocent person's name was listed alongside rapists, then in the next sentence says that the people already listed are "alleged". Meaning they haven't been proven guilty.

What she's saying is, "it's awful if an innocent person's name is on this list, but it's assumed that if your name is on it you're guilty anyway." It's doublespeak. You weren't proven guilty, but since someone accused you, you must be.

I see your point, and do agree that every person is innocent until proven guilty. It turns my stomach when anyone says that they should not be required evidence to put someone in jail for anything.

These are individuals that were charged by their campus, the "alleged" is the writer's stance towards remaining neutral.

Campus courts don't require evidence. Their standard of evidence is only a "preponderance of evidence" which basically means that if there is even a chance that you could have committed the crime, you are guilty. You are essentially guilty unless you can prove your innocence beyond any doubt. Better have an airtight alibi because otherwise you're guilty. Furthermore they don't allow you a lawyer, a jury, or any kind of appeal.

If you think that's justice then I've got some oceanfront property in North Dakota I'd like to sell you.

You are also not subject to the penal code when you are convicted of a crime on a campus. I am not saying that campus courts are the best system, because they aren't for the exact reasons you stated. But if you are tried on a campus court and found guilty you do not need to register as a sex offender and the conviction doesn't follow you for life.

It sounds like you agree that campus courts aren't serving anything close to justice but you also seem to support the fact that feminists are publicly posting the names of men who have been found "guilty" in these kangaroo courts.

Young men are being expelled from school and publicly shamed based on fraudulent "convictions" that are based on no evidence and avoid any semblance of due process. How can you possibly defend any part of that?

I say just let them stand trial in an actual court room. Unfortunately our society does not educate people when it comes to sex or consent. So are these men that have been convicted of sexual assault on their campus guilty? Yes, and a lot more should be charged but aren't because of unhealthy stereotypes of masculine dominance, game, purity, and shaming.

False rape claims do have a lot of power, in the duke "rape" scandal how fast were those men convicted in a court of public outcry, only later to learn the lady was obviously telling a lie.

How angry would you be if a woman went on the local news where ever you lived and accused you of rape? But hey it holds no power right so you should just be fine with it, no one has ever been sent to prison innocent.

Wonder how tangible the evidence has to be to convict a person of rape when it is her word against yours. You would be fine.

If you are a rapist, then shouldn't it be okay to chastise someone for essentially ruining someones life? The similarity isn't in the crime, it is in the practice of naming people on public forums as a means to "get the word out".

Except being called a slut doesn't get put on your transcripts. It doesn't become a part of your employment history. Formal rape accusations are a part of the legal record and follow you for the rest of your life, no matter where you go, whether or not you're guilty. Being known as the campus slut lasts until you leave school.

Is the only case someone can make against feminism that feminists lobby for victims advocacy? If someone came up to me saying they were raped, then I would believe them. If someone tries to get their assailant sent to prison then they require evidence

They don't simply lobby for victim advocacy, however. They lobby for ever-expanding definitions of rape in order to allow women to skirt any responsibility for any poor decision-making on their part. They've turned rape into this vague, nebulous "get out of anything free" card due to the emotional stigma attached to it. Anything pertaining to men and women having sex that could lead to women feeling uncomfortable about their actions is becoming "rape".

Got drunk, had sex and you feel bad about it in the morning? You must have been date-raped!
That guy you had an ONS with stopped calling? Rape!
SO caught you cheating? Say you were raped so he won't be mad at you!
Angry at a man and you want revenge? Say he raped you!
Hell, you just want attention? Say you were raped and voila! Instant sympathy!

Cry rape enough times and people stop believing you. Which makes it that much harder for the people that have actually been raped.

So there are rules to rape? How about one rule being don't have sex while you are plastered, or have someone that will be there to tell you if you are not in the position to make a decision. If you do not have sex with someone while either of you is intoxicated then you cannot be convicted if you get consent.

So if your hypothesis is true then the treatment for this is education. If mine are true then the treatment is education.

So you would deny any person from yelling rape because you are scared to be called a rapist? Don't put yourself in a position that it could be questioned. If someone is "crazy enough" to call you a rapist then don't have sex with her/him.

Our society makes it hard enough for all victims, because the focus of blame is put on them.

She asked for it, did you see how short her dress was? She didn't say "no", Looks like I am in the clear. I don't think I have ever met someone that claimed they "cried rape" to get back at someone for a ONS.

As for attention, maybe you shouldn't assume that rapes are all fake and that in order to rape it must be "legitimate".

How about if 2 people get drunk and have sex, they both get charged with rape? I mean, they were both unable to consent. Or if he's drunk and she's not, how about she gets charged with rape? Or ban alcohol altogether? That way you're always able to consent!

Nope, feel free to yell it all you want. But if an investigation proves that you're lying, or you fess up that you're lying, you should get a similar sentence to the one an actual rapist would get. Part of the reason it's easy to make a false rape accusation is because there's virtually no consequence for you if the truth comes out. You might get a "filing a false report" charge, which is nothing compared to the hell a rape accusation brings.

Don't put yourself in a position that it could be questioned. If someone is "crazy enough" to call you a rapist then don't have sex with her/him.

Which is all well and good except as has been noted before, sex that was consensual one night is being deemed "rape" the morning after. I'm sure the guys on this list didn't think they were having sex with a crazy woman when they did it, and yet they've still got a rape accusation over their heads.

It's also why one of the things some game guys teach is to get the "morning after" text.

However, women treating it as a joke, turning it into something you can just claim without any kind of proof and still cause irreparable harm to a man's reputation, using it to get sympathy when they know it isn't true, has made it so now there has to be a determination between "legitimate" and not.

You would be charged with filling a false report, obstruction of justice, and other charges meant to keep "false rape" claims at bay. The consequence for lying supersedes the legal consequences. I think we both agree that falsifying a police report is wrong.

The reality of the situation is that rape and sexual assault go unreported. The percentage that are unreported is anything from 75-95% of all rape crimes

So by that logic women shouldn't get drunk around men because no person can consent while drinking? You are correct, both parties need to consent. That isn't a flaw in feminism, that is a flaw in "game".

So if there is photo evidence of two people having sex then it couldn't possibly be rape? Rape isn't claimed because there is no evidence of sex, it is claimed because the sex wasn't wanted/it wasn't consented.

Not a silly question at all. I don't even need the 75-95% to prove my point. RAINN claims that it is 60% of victims that do not report to the police. That isn't that these people are just guessing, that is from the people that have come out and spoken about their experiences. It is a sobering reminder that not enough is being done. And furthermore, out of the 237,868 victims 97% of rapists will not spend a day in jail.

i think all the rape tests that are backlogged need to be processed. the rapists need to be prosecuted AND the women who made false rape claims that the rape tests show that she was lying also need to be prosecuted and thrown in prison with the exact same sentences and stigma as the rapists get.

it is wrong to rape, very wrong to rape. it is wrong to falsely accuse an innocent person of rape, very wrong. i would go so far as to say equally wrong.

new technology over the last 10 years has made drastic improvements in using machines to literally read minds, going so far as to print rough pictures of images that are being thought. they can clearly show the difference of remember a situation and fabricating a situation. this technology should be improved further, and then used in every rape case. it will be able to tell with 100% certainty weather something is being remembered or weather it is being made up. it will be able to tell if a statement is a lie, or if it is the truth.

this will be able to determine if a rape claim is true, or if it is a fabrication. i want all the rapists to be locked away. i also want predatory women who use false rape claims to be locked away. and i want fuzzy situations in which rape may or may not have taken place to be treated differently than cut and clear situations of rape.

so if you are shitfaced and have sex it might or might not be rape. if your alleged rapists had intentionally gotten you drunk to have sex with you expecting that you would not have sex without getting you drunk, than it was probably rape. if instead he was drunk or unaware of your drunken state than it wasn't rape. if instead it was you who got drunk and chose to have sex and then felt regret afterward after knowing that in full faith at the time you were consenting AND you later pressed rape charges than you belong in jail.

advances in technology will be able to clear this up in the near future. we all should support using these types of technology. it will make rape cases cut and dry. simply read the minds, intentions, memories, and fabrications of all party members involved as soon as possible. the rapists will be imprisoned, the false rape reporters will be imprisoned. the guilty parties will be imprisoned, and the innocent people will be spared the problems associated with rape trials.

the technology to make this foolproof doesn't exist just yet, but 10 years ago this was the stuff of science fiction, and now it is a very real thing if not rough. it is functional not foolproof, in another 10 years it will likely be foolproof.

One way to counter this would be to hijack the campaign. Collect the name of every member of the university board of governors, every "mangina" on the university newspaper, add a random selection of 5 percent of the male faculty and student body, and begin a six-month campaign of plastering their names in the bathrooms anonymously. Accuse them of rape and make it look as much like the original campaign as possible.

Then get the name of every women's studies professor or graduate student and start plastering messages that they are the ones plastering the graffiti.

Get everybody running in circles. Use the campus man-hater's own weapon against them.

Girls I follow on twitter are constantly broadcasting how unsafe and rapey our campus is, even though it has one of the most unathletic and insecure male student bodies in the country (I don't think our football team has ever won a game) and it's only ~40% male with the inclusion of Barnard to begin with.

I'm sadly not surprised.

It's actually not as bad now as it was, but between about 1995 and 2005, it was difficult to find any characters on tv or in movies who had sex who weren't rapists.

"rape" has been being used as a euphimism for expressing "sex is dark and scary" for a while now. When you have a lot of "insecure and low confidence men" (low sexual value men), that triggers women's "fear" that they'll sleep with the wrong guy, and they start talking about how undesirable sex has been portrayed to them - as rape.

The people who LOVE talking about rape are bizarrely somehow promoting it, not diminishing it. It's their way of sidetalking about how sex is bad and men are scary, etc etc. I knew 4 girls in college who were raped. There was a bizarre correlation - the more scared of rape they were, the more likely it was to happen to them. Of the 4, 3 of them set up the situation themselves that led to it happening - inviting him (a guy they didn't know that well) to have drinks alone, or driving across the state to visit him and get drunk with him, or dating him (a guy who having met once, I immediately thought this guy was not a safe guy to hang around).

If there's a "don't die biking" group, but members of that group are 75% more likely to die biking than anyone else, wouldn't you think that that group is not really about preventing death while biking, and somehow encourages it's members to do things that are even more dangerous than other people do?

I was 100% sure when 3 of the 4 women I knew who were raped (and I 100% believe they were genuinely raped because they were really, really traumatized by it) all involved situations with a fair to large amount of alcohol. Statistically, I believe it's the #1 factor in rape cases. And what did those people who claimed to be against rape say when people tried to warn women, in the same way we warn people to wear seatbelts while driving? They had a tantrum, and made it clear that they thought their right to get passed out drunk without feeling bad about it was more important than actually preventing girls from getting raped.

The people who promote this suppose "rape is bad" stuff, they're doing it for reasons that are not about reducing rape. I don't know why they'd do that, but it's pretty clear to me.

Here's what I think the point of regret rape is. It's not that you were drunk, it's that you fucked someone you wouldn't have fucked when you were sober. How many top 20% do you think get called regret rapists? It's the girl being disappointed in the guy she ended up with, not regretting the sex altogether. So now it's criminal to try and get laid if you aren't attractive. That's why I hate the term "creep." By itself, not too terrible, but it is the stepping stone from "I got drunk and fucked the nerdy dude from class" and "I got drunk and that creep from class took advantage of me."

Agree, and the "both genders are actually screwed" part of this is that a girl who's been genuinely emotionally traumatized by actually being raped, a lot of times doesn't want to go through reliving it again, and won't report it to the police. It is sad, and a shitty system I'm not sure what to do about.

But the girl who just regrets who she slept with? Or the girl just trying to get someone in trouble? Those girls are MUCH more comfortable going through the process of accusing the guy. They're not afraid of reliving the experience, because it either wasn't negative or was "negative" but it's like bitching about a class you didn't like - it doesn't hurt them to relive it.

It's insanely messed up.

Definitely don't go to a liberal arts college. Go to a real university with a large and diverse student body. If you go to an LAC or even an Ivy like Columbia, you'll be surrounded by rich kids who think they're special snowflakes and can study useless shit like gender studies because their parents will just by them jobs.

Not sure about that per sae, engineering degrees definitely are helpful I've seen since there is almost always a demand requiring a nicer of thought to get a product out without any defects and to work in a way that will ensure the company money .Whether it be via military industrial, technological, or mass production of consumables, engineering is definitely needed regardless.To do engineering usually requires a degree.

But the majority of the time I feel like anything else usually is a waste of time.
