I know this sounds odd. But I describe benevolent misandry as men being praised for adhering to gender roles. You can argue that "positive masculinity" is benevolent misandry too. Especially when men are being praised for catering to women or protecting women.

I'm sure you guys are aware of the term pick-me. Women will get a shit ton of hate for being pick me's. Feminists hate pick me's. But yet the same Feminists will praise the male equivalent to a pick-me. By saying the male pick-me is a perfect example of "positive masculinity". Even though they would shit on women for doing the same thing lol.

In a way it's a double standard against women. But oddly enough this double standard still affects men more though. Since men are the ones usually being expected to perform for the opposite gender.

Whether it's male streamers like Hasan Piker, or actors like Justin Baldoni. Men are usually praise when they are pick-mes in society. If a woman had a talk show on the same level of Steve Harvey. That women would get nuclear levels of hate. Since society thinks romantic and beautiful when men simp for women at this level. Note I don't mean simp in a red-pill way.

This all comes down to women good, and men bad simple logic.

This extends to getting female validation is good, but getting male validation is bad.

This is why it's common for women to say they don't care about male validation. Saying women don't wear makeup for male approval, they wear it for themselves or other women. And in society this is considered female empowerment. While in society men are expected to care about female validation or approval. Because the validation make a man a "better man".

This is the same reason why female gender roles are considered toxic masculinity, oppressive, and misogynistic in society. While male gender roles are considered "positive masculinity", "healthy" and "morality".

In conclusion.

Benevolent misandry is about men being praised for catering to women. This is a great way to trick men into doing male self- sacrifice, and male-disposability. By saying this is something "good men" always do.
