Isn't it crazy how they will never ever hold themselves accountable? It's like they themselves recognise that their words have no weight. These "jokes" are suddenly okay because they're "sarcastic". Now that the victim is male, his identity and his trauma doesn't matter, its a laughing matter for them, a chance to catch an internet 'gotcha'.

The problem with doing this shit to "show men how it feels" is you're eroding your own moral foundation.

You can't pragmatically argue with me that it's wrong for men to make these comments if women are doing the same thing.

There's so much of this now. You basically can't get a post about a men being victimised without women making themselves the centre on attention, recycling the same lines over and over.

At no point in my entire life— even once— have I heard anyone victim blame a woman who was the victim of sexual assault. I’m sure it happens in some fringe places, but pretending like it’s at all socially acceptable in the US as a whole to do so is just an oppression fetish at this point.

These jokes are especially cruel because they’re also unironically exactly what is legitimately said when men are abused by women, physically or sexually. Woman attacking a man? He must’ve done something to deserve it. There are a plethora of videos out there showcasing this very fact— man yells at a woman in public, instantly confronted by almost every bystander.

Woman yells at a man in public or even physically attacks him? Not a single person helps or cares. Sometimes they even get audio of the passerby saying something like “wonder what he did to her”. Rarely, a single person might try to help out of a 100 people who walk by.

These exact women in the screenshot are the same ones who would 100% be justifying a woman raping a man. “He got laid, he should be thankful. He was hard, he must’ve wanted it. Why didn’t he just push her off? Sounds like he just wants attention” are all popular sentiments I have seen many times over verbatim any time some article about a woman raping a man pops up. And unlike victim blaming of women, victim blaming the man very much is socially acceptable throughout the US as a whole and there’s virtually no risk of widespread backlash or pushback for that kind of hate.

Reminder tho to everyone who’s read this far: even though these behaviors are fairly prevalent, it is incredibly important to not do what the awful people this sub highlights do and respond to poor treatment with hateful mass generalizations. It’s never ok to say anything like “all women are x” just because some women are x in the same way that it wouldn’t be ok to say “all men are rapists/dumb/violent/useless/whatever”. Be better than these hateful immature bigots.

I’d consider this right message, wrong time. When women get raped, a lot of misogynistic comments are made about the outfit she had on or how she looked as if that justifies rape, so it’s not unreasonable to what to contrast that to men. The issue here is that a man actually got raped and attacked and is probably suffering, so it’s not really appropriate.
