Went to college and made a lot of friends. I even ended up meeting the person I married but the classes were so anti male and biased that it was harmful to a lot of young men’s self esteem. I was lucky to have professors who let me debate and call out the bullshit of certain misandrist positions.

Also college overall is pretty difficult for a lot of people to manage nowadays due to the cost, especially when people come from a poorer background. So there’s that from a leftist perspective on that argument

I went to many colleges and I can tell you that the male loneliness epidemic hasn't been fixed. Shoot I remember going to a tech college in my 20's hoping that maybe I might meet some women my age and it didn't quite pan out how I wanted. I even went to a university a few years later and I was 27 by then and still didn't really make friends both male and female. Going to the colleges don't necessarily fix male loneliness.

We need to add dating to the very long list of what college is NOT intended for. College is a house of scholastic advancement; not a trade school, not a nightclub, and certainly not a credentials mill.

So no, it isn’t the cure, and it should never be the cure under any circumstances.
