Passport bro hype: it is ALL bull. I investigated five popular "foreign dating sites." They are ALL scam sites with all or almost all fake profiles, and it is easy to prove it.

This piqued my interest so I asked ChatGPT about the best practices. One of the first things it said was to be wary of dating apps, tinder scams, and tourist traps. It suggested that OkCupid, specifically, might be helpful, or dating apps that are local to the country you are visiting, but that you should still be wary.

It went on to suggest that you can meet authentic people by getting involved in local events. It suggested language classes, interest-based social events (dance groups, hiking meetups, cooking meetups, whatever you are into), volunteering, or religious communities (provided you actually follow the religion in question).

It also advised against flaunting wealth ("it can attract the wrong kind of attention"), and gave advice about protecting yourself (making sure others know your whereabouts, etc.).

This sounds suspiciously similar to generic dating advice given to people who aren't passport bros. And that checks out. Dating is risky in the modern day, so vetting is necessary, whether you are doing it locally or overseas.

This reminds me of the when a site for affairs, Ashley Madison, got hacked in 2015.

It was found that over 99% of the women on it were fake, in-fact a lot of them had emails like "[email protected]" and so on, meaning the company themselves created a lot of the fake accounts.

Of the number of users who checked their inboxes 20,269,675 male users had done so while only 1,492 female users.

Indicating only 0.0073% of the users were actually women.

Online Dating itself is a scam.

I did use 11 years a Russian dating site, but it was like reality, most girls were average looking.

I did meet an amazing Russian girl ironically on the first day, we were 5 years together.

Now the site sucks since last year, I guess that it was dereferenced by search engines in Russia, and all nice Ukrainian girls left Ukraine apparently, there are nearly zero now...

But you should know something, it's very hard to motivate them to move to your country, you really need to be handsome and have money to motivate them, but actually most of girls are not awful gold diggers, they are better than the average girl in France...

Ah, I would assume people are posting their results based on in person experiences or major platforms and not targeted platforms. I obviously can't weigh in from direct experience, however, I would assume you're taking a dating sample from sites that are directly trying to capitalize on or target foreign men.

Engagement in websites directly trying to prey on vulnerable men does not equal lived experiences of men that have moved abroad. But, just a speculation on my end and not an argument either way.

Majority of guys who go overseas usually live overseas. I dated a girl in Vietnam briefly, and if I stayed I may have married her, she was so awesome
