The more men refuse this arrangement and demand 50/50, the quicker it will speed up a change. I think things are already (albeit very slowly) going in that direction.

The gendered expectations of providing financially are not fair. Everyone in my generation of Feminists are lamenting 1) that women are increasingly ceding their independence by relying on men to provide for them, and 2) the men are subjected to unrealistic expectations that reduces their worth as a partner to their ability to provide financially. Trad-wife content is creating terrible expectations for dating.

Isn't this kinda contradicted by the claims of feminism on the topic of households? Women are being pushed to be independent, not financially tied or dependent on a man

the main issue feminism has with dual earned households is that men don't do enough domestic labour. In a sense the housewife role is placed on the women despite them also working a breadwinner / equal financial role in the household. This is also something backed by studies, it gave rise to the term "dual burden", men still statistically avoid traditionally feminine or childcare tasks.

Although households are steadily becoming more equal as these useless and harmful gender stereotypes lose their appeal

Yes, there is a societal expectation that men should be the 'providers', this is due to gender roles that are placed onto men.

Feminists are challenging this expectation which is why women are encouraged to go to work, contribute to the household etc. explaining why so many households are two incomes, along with socioeconomic factors. Feminists are constantly discussing how women should not rely on a man, how it is actually dangerous to rely on anyone financially due to the increased chance of financial abuse.

But it isn't a simple thing that can be fixed, gender roles are hundreds and hundreds of years old, drenched in tradition and passed down from past generations.
