It's probably more oldschool, but I often will just let her know who it is and then send a text telling her to pick up the phone. I don't use FaceTime so I can focus more on the conversation and to build more anticipation for an actual face to face date. Ideally, try not to talk too much as the goal is just to establish and setup a date. I find phone convos lead to far less flaking than text.
