These complaints can be done effectively, but despite what the narrative might say she has essentially all the power and you need to be careful. They are liable to take her seriously and not you, although you being the complainant (getting your side in first) will help a lot. It really depends on the specific Investigators. Some are fair and some are sexist.

If you did make the complaint, you definitely want to preempt any historical or present false accusations that will no doubt occur. Say she has a history of making these false accusations, she has a history of lying to hurt you, evidence this where you can.

On the other hand, if this is no longer hurting your life it may be a lot more peaceful to leave it and heal on your own. That is the reality for many male victims at the moment.

ah a man with a dick is always guilty no matter what, Even if there is physical evidence of a women with a gun and the man standing next to her, these clowns will say the guy is forcing her to hold the gun.

Main point is do not do anything because you will not be taken seriously. They will just twist things around, and chances are this women will file a complaint and her word will trump yours even with your so called emails. Nobody will beleive you.

The best thing you can do is truthfully drop out of school. just drop out and transfer to a different school away from your ex.

This is something I wondered about personally. And I started to actually look into it. Because if I'm ever hit by a woman, what do I actually do?

In listening to cops talk about it, as well as 911 operators.....this is only their testimony (not a study or hard proof), but basically.....they get a ton of calls from men about their wife/girlfriend/etc. hitting them, biting them, choking them, etc.

And they all said yes, they would respond to the call, and as long as you don't do anything to show that you are the pimrsry aggressor.

In the 70s, or the 90s, or even the 2000s, yeah, you would have been laughed off. But policing and law has changed a lot. There's bodycams, there's strict policies, and the truth really matters these days. In 2025, if you really weren't the one who did something, and there's reasonable evidence (they're gonna split you up, one cop talks to her, one cop talks to you), they're gonna find it. Who has marks on who. Who is lying.

Yeah testosterone can make men violent. But estrogen can make women violent too!

As for your situation OP, I am really sorry to hear about it. In terms of what I know of Law, the difficulty here is you did not contact the police and file a police report and now it's been six months. The longer the amount of time passes after a crime, the harder it is to do something about it. Always. Evidence fades (disappears, degrades), and they're less likely to do something about it.

I would agree with other posters....you would need a lawyer for this one, but you'd also have to have something you're trying to get out of it. Money for emotional damages? Are you hoping she serves time? (At this point it may or may not happen). And it sucks, because a lawyer costs money and they also have to agree to take your case.

That being said the statute of limitations (the time period when the crime is no longer counted) is surely not over. Technically she could still get in trouble. But there needs to be enough evidence. And at this point to really prosecute either the evidence needs to be strong enough or she needs to admit it. It might take a trial which is expensive and may/may not be possible.

I really feel for you OP because this is tough. In your shoes, it can't hurt to still try. You can try to pursue this. See what comes of it. There's no penalty for trying and failing. If authorities fail to pursue, if a lawyer won't take your case, that's disheartening, but it doesn't cost you anything. So you can at least give it a shot. My advice is though, the longer you wait, the less likely anything will be done. So don't wait any more months if you're going to pursue.

It would be different if you had clear video footage. If you have just an email it might be enough. So it's worth trying.

My advice in the end to all men, is to never hit back, don't even push her off of you if you don't have to. When you sense things getting physical or heated.....exit the house/apartment. Let it calm down. And consider your future living in that place going forward.

If you can let them hit you (and not hit back), and there's evidence and you are telling the truth, she will be the one who is arrested. Even in backcountry rural areas women hit their men sometimes in 2025 but the law is the law.

Still yeah, there's always a bias against men. But cops are now trained to listen to all parties. They know women lie. They've seen it before lol. It's not new to them.

So don't be the one breaking the law. Do NOT hit back. Even in defense. Leave if you can. And if you weren't able to, let her hit you. And honestly, as afraid as I am of doing this myself, if that is the case, do file a police report, immediately after it happens. They will take it seriously. Better to do it ASAP. There is a huge bias in this world in favor of women but they aren't automatically creatures who just get to do whatever they want under the law (even if it seems that way).

And my best wishes to you OP when it comes to how this turns out. We need more organizations to help men when it comes to this. That is a place where there is a huge huge bias. A woman can often find an organization that immediately offers counseling, takes her side, offers free legal help in some cases (free lawyer!), and more.

We just don't have that. It's up to us. If men as a class decide to pool their money together and start such an org it would be a thing. Honestly I think everyone should have it because as the cops know......everyone hits, scratches, pushes, bites, kicks. Not just men, but everyone. They know.

In lieu of everything OP, I hope you can at least find some therapy for the situation. Does your campus offer therapy for students?

Has she already made the accusations formally or just threatening?

First to report is powerful, people reporting second will often seem to be trying to deflect or get revenge.

If you have proof, pull the trigger (proverbially), and report it.

You need to get the complaint in first, if she does then you are probably screwed.

If yours is first then it puts hers in the realm of retaliation against you and vice versa. Frankly it sucks this can be more important than proof but you have to work as it is not the way you/we would prefer.

If you fight it beyond school (appeal courts), stronger evidence standards will apply. Most US colleges have biased kangaroo "panels". Like most have said, easier to drop it (and her) unless you go scorched earth, long term.

I am really sorry that this is happening to you. I want you to know that I believe you, and your pain is 100% valid. I don't have any advice on Title 9, but I think your concerns are valid.
