Often enough. During adolescence ( middle and high school years ) us autistic men get identified as “weird,” and one way to harass & bully us is to claim we did something sexual and highly inappropriate. The gossip alone will be all some teachers, coaches, or other authorities, need to exact punishment.

My sister (I have two. One is narcissistic and the other is normal, but I don't get along very well with her either) said that her co-worker got angry on the subway because an autistic guy sat next to her mother. And according to the coworker, this was inappropriate and she wanted to hit the autistic guy, just because he was sitting next to her mother 💀

And then she said he should be required to wear an autism ID. The guy did literally nothing, he was just existing. If my sister's co-worker had been more extreme, he would definitely be falsely accused. I know this isn't a false accusation, but it is proof that some women (who may be radical feminists) have a deep hatred for autistic men, which I think is ableism.

Happens in the UK a lot. One guy got arrested because he touched a girl's shoulder while talking to her.

It can be difficult enough at times without autism with the subtly of female flirting, the constant mixed messaging “don’t approach us; why aren’t men shooting their shot? and the playing hard to get gamesmanship nonsense that women put men through,. Being autistic must be dating on hardcore mode.

Women often expect men to be mind readers, they believe they’re being obvious in flirting by such nonsense as a cryptic double take eye glance, or by speaking out of both sides of their mouth simultaneously in saying “men must make the first move but don’t approach me in public” or the dreaded dangerous no, meaning maybe or ask me three times then I’ll say yes and if you don’t make a move you must be gay… in such cases it’s always safety first, take the first no as definitive no as well as the woman’s causal homophobia on the chin.

The long and short of it is, always air on the side of caution and don’t take any risks.

They're easy targets. Radical feminists lack empathy for anyone but themselves and aren't hesitant to exploit and accuse people who are vulnerable and easily painted as creepy.

Ironically they are constantly complaining that autism in women needs more recognition/less stigma.

That is a question without a definitive answer.

Unfortunately, some people (men and women alike) get mixed signals OR take things way too far in their own heads. Other people actively lead someone on, with the intention to state otherwise after the fact (yup, been through that one).

The best thing you can do to protect yourself is try to stay aware of how you are coming across to the other person. Consent is key. You can always ask "do you want to go further?" or "is it ok if I do this?" If they say no, you stop - that's it.

And, for those guys that claim 'blueballs' (code for: I just don't want to stop) - get the fuck over yourself, go wank it by yourself and be done with it.

A woman's reaction tells you what you need to know.

If you want to do something, and she says yes, pay attention to how she reacts - is the lady apprehensive, or nervous - if yes, slow down.

If she's barely touching you and is being a bit distant, slow your hormones.

If she's literally climbing over every inch of your body, enjoy the times.

The worst thing you can do is ASSUME.

I would guess "quite rarely". Radical Feminists (Feminists in general, really, but especially the radicals) are pretty repulsed by the traits and behaviors most autistic men show; they tend to avoid us.

Over the last decade or so, there's been a major shakeup in nerd culture in the US, and the core of that is that much of said culture was either founded or pioneered by autistic men. Since autists tend to be very egalitarian, Feminists and related movements saw an opening- but autists are (mostly) egalitarian because they're meritocratic, and meritocracy and Feminism go together like chlorine and bleach. Someone who's not afraid of social ostracism ("nerd" was a genuine insult just thirty years ago, and older nerds remember that) is immune to standard Feminist tactics, and someone who's had to find (or had to found) a subculture where they're accepted is very likely to stand and defend it. Few Feminists have the social OR the intellectual courage to stand and fight that- though I'll admit that most who do are radicals.

I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but I doubt it's common; there's little to gain and a massive struggle to fight.

As an autistic (stage 3 but I don't think so because mine makes me a bit more mentally mature when I take my ADHD meds) 16yo I can proudly say that this hasn't happened to me
