This is my second holidays now without the kids. I love my free time now.

Take it easy on the booze... I hate to be that guy, but cutting it off completely over the last year has completely changed the game for me.

This is actually a good warning.

Men spend their time working and alone. Her friends are our friends. Her family becomes our family. When she leaves, we don’t just lose our wife, we lose most of our social group.

This is why men die 7 years earlier than women when we aren’t married. Humans are social animals and don’t do well alone.

So if you find you are alone on holidays, there’s a good chance you are not prioritizing building community for yourself. Friends that invite you over to their party or hosting a party for other friends who don’t have family.

You are right, it’s just a bad day and will pass. But also make note of it so you’re not alone next year.

I know it sucks but try to be thankful that you have ten toes, ten fingers, your legs work, and you can enjoy the Simmons while having some adult beverages.

I am sorry for you choosing to be alone. You dont have to indulge in your trauma. You can make the best of it. It's rather easy. You just have to keep trying through the failures until you find success
