I (35M) got the keys to the apartment yesterday and I am spending the weekend moving things out of the family home and building new furniture. This time next week, I will have the kids for my first full weekend with them.

I have known for months this is where things were headed, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. My nervous system is completely shot after living in limbo for six months. I have heard from other people who have been through this same situation that the limbo when living together, but knowing it’s over is the worst of it. I hope that's true. I hope the quietness and solitude of my own place will quickly turn into it being a place of peace and tranquility.

I have 50/50 custody, a really good support system, my finances will be fine and I am in good shape physically with only a few pounds to lose. I know it could be worse, but that doesn't make this any easier. I will miss my 2 kids like crazy. They are so amazing and I am grateful for the relationship we share.

I know everything will be okay, but that reality is hard to see in this current moment. I would love any words of encouragement or advice from those who have been through it.
