Rural vs desolate is a key factor here. Next nearest town is 150 miles away, your pool is whatever is in that 6,000. There's a dozen townships, villages, whatever within 40 miles - those might as well be right next door. If you're used to the city, one of the biggest things you'll have to get used to is how much you'll be driving. Shit is just far away. I'm semi-rural and lucky enough to have a grocery store 5 min down the road, but if I want a meal? 25-30 min. I can get to a Taco Bell or McDonald's in about 15 minutes, but a place with a metal fork might be double that. An actual nice place - 40-45 min.

However, you will immediately have one significant advantage, but it doesn't come without significant risk. You're a new commodity in a community that doesn't get a whole lot of new prospects into the dating pool. Women will be intrigued, men will be threatened. How you navigate that is going to determine your success. The absolute #1 thing you should do is befriend the men. Same strategy for if you walk into a bar and want to hit on a woman who's in a large mixed group.

You find the lay of the land, see who's with who, figure out if any of these dudes are going to be a problem, get them on your side at least to some degree, then you can court the women without ending up in a fight. A couple of bros in a community that small will be able to feed you all the info you need to be safe - both from violence, and from the crazy women who are inevitably be there.

In college I used to go with my buddy back to his home town that was smaller than your spot. They'd throw parties in the cornfields and people from 60 miles away, who everyone knew, would be there. I'd be the only guy there who didn't know everybody. The first new guy that a lot of them had even socialized with in years, maybe ever.

The first night of the first weekend I almost got into a fight because some crazy guy's ex started hitting on me and dude was a legit problem. Luckily it was within earshot of my buddy's friend, who happened to be about the toughest guy around. He stepped in and squashed it cause I had just been introduced to him a couple of hours before. I did very well with the girls there with minimal effort every trip because they were desperate for new options. The problem with that is, you become old hat just as quick, so you need to play that balance wisely.

Of course, if you have game and are desirable in general, that doesn't change when you move out there. Just going to have to get over the fact that you'll constantly be running into guys who've been with the girls you're dating because there's only one damn WalMart and literally everyone shops there.

What country? I went looking around a village before, a lot are married young but more importantly a lot have easy transportation to town. You can go town and meet a lot of women.

Small towns are a different world man. Everyone knows everyone and the word travels faster than light. One slip up follows you around for years and everyone remembers when there's nothing else going on. You hit on someone's daughter and she doesn't like it, you're going to have enemies. I live in a city of 200k and even here everyone my age basically knows each other through someone and dating options can get limited. So now imagine that in a 6k village.

That said you have some things working in your favor. You're 31, and if you really are attractive as you say with a solid career, you're going to be the new guy which in a small town is actually interesting by default. People are curious about outsiders especially in rural areas where nothing new ever happens and that novelty works for you at least in the beginning. Maybe by some miracle, there will still be at least a few single people there within your age range but wouldn't count on it.

The coworkers aged 25-40 are honestly your best bet and probably your only realistic pipeline. That's where it's going to happen if it happens at all probably. Just be smart about it because hooking up with someone you work with in a small isolated place where you're stuck together for a year can go sideways fast if it gets messy. I think I'd rather pass up on some sex and emotional connections than causing drama in that village and being stuck there.

Apps will be dead there or full of the same 12 people within a 30 mile radius. Social events, local bars, work gatherings that's your whole world for a year but you're going to be seeing the same people probably over and over.

The one thing I'd really hammer home is reputation management. In a city you can have a bad night and nobody remembers. In a village of 6000 you look at someone the wrong way and everyone knows. Play it smart and slowly, don't get too careless and start thinking with the second brain. Also note that young people usually escape villages like that escape and get to bigger cities. My guess would be that this 6k village is going to be full of old people.
