I was, and still am, in love with a girl who is perfect in every single way.

Everything about her appeals to me, her looks, her character, her mannerisms, her personality, her faith, her intelligence, and her family.

And she loved me back.

But.. my only issue was her height; she’s around 153 cm.

I didn’t realize how much that mattered to me until later. When I started reading about evolutionary psychology.

I don’t actually have a problem with her being short, except for one thing:

My children more than likely will be short, and I didn’t want to do that to them.

I am 174 cm and she is 153 cm, which means, on average, our sons would be 170 cm and our daughters 157 cm.

This is based on Mid-parental height formula which roughly has 70% accuracy.

To be honest, I wanted a taller wife so that my kids would grow up tall.

The bottom line is, I didn’t marry her, even though no other woman has been able to fill the void she left.

We broke up, and I never told her the real reason because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.

I come from evolutionary psychology/ sexual selection POV.

We know that height is largely affected by genetics.

Sleep, nutrition, exercise and being as healthy as possible help up to the limit your genes allows.

We also know that, females preference lean toward taller males.

Everything being equal, a female more than likey will opt to mate with the taller guy.

Knowing this, why would I limit my offsprings chances while I know and can optimize them by choosing a taller female?

I still can choose a tall, intelligent loving and kind female for the sake of my children rather than selfishly build a family with the girl i like and doom the offspring with being short!
