If you ask the people who say 'not all men,' you will also find that they will say 'not all women,' when it comes to false rape reports, gold-digging, and killing their infant children. It is a fact that not all women do those things.

But you won't find the anti-'not all men' crowd also being anti-'not all women' (sorry for the triple negative there).

We are consistent. We say 'not all men,' because we were taught that generalised prejudice based on immutable characteristics is called bigotry, which is neither rational nor nice.

They can't be reasoned with.

It's funny, because exactly unlike the OOP, I grew up in a very conservative area but in a very liberal household, had liberal teachers, went to a liberal college, etc ... and until about 5 years ago, would have said I was a feminist or a feminist ally ...

And then I saw hashtag KillAllMen. And MenAreTrash. And then the bear meme (which was really the last straw).

And I began to really question their intentions, and read more about how the ideology was formed, and about what they did to women who questioned them or left feminism ...

And it became obvious it has always been about HATING men. Everything else is set dressing and rationalization ... credit taking for historical and technological progress that would have happened anyway ...

Occam's razor says: the reason why they don't use limiting language instead of generalizing language is because they mean it. They do mean ALL men.

They wanted plausible deniability up to a certain point ("of course we don't mean all men!")--- until relatively recently they have become strong enough that the mask comes off a lot of the time, and they'll just say ALL men.

I could write a long screed on how I think many of them hate themselves, because they hate being women (which is sad) so they hate men no matter what, for that reason, and everything else is just figuring the reason du jour ... but I don't have time.

But the point is, due to deep, unresolvable psychological issues, they will not stop using us, so there's no reasoning with them.

The most we can do is make sure men who are tempted to enable them (1) understand when they say ALL men, they DO mean you, too; (2) they do not want "equality" ... in this example, equally avoiding hateful generalizations about the other sex; and (3) we (men) should not slip into misogyny, reactively, because that is also wrong ... but being anti-feminist is not misogynist anymore than being opposed to Zionism is antisemitic.

My go-to is, if it can't survive the gender-swap (or target a specific race) it's probably bigoted shit.

I know some men can be absolute scum of the earth. I know several women who have been on the receiving end of it and my heart absolutely goes to them and I support them and I believe they are extremely courageous to confront what happened to them. And I understand having a hard time trusting men after having suffered anything of the kind, and I don't judge women for their wariness.

But in the meantime, I know a lot of absolutely amazing dudes who wouldn't even think of thinking about doing any of this heinous shit, and would absolutely protect and help women facing this.

And also, I know a lot of terrible women who are just as scum of the earth as the men precited. Manipulative, abusive, violent, sexually deviant women. And I absolutely would be against any man saying generalizing statements against wolen as a whole based on their bad experiences.

If you're not willing to take 2 seconds of your precious time (that you decided to spend scrolling internet - no judging I do the same) to work your sentence in a way to not be a condemnation of half the population based on the actions of a few, then being bigoted was the goal all-along. You revel in the hatred, and I get it, having a clear-cut enemy you can put all of your problems on the back of is a seductive idea, and nobody is immune from falling into this. That's why far-right movements exists and are so successful.

I love when they assume everyone who would have a problem with generalizing an entire group of people (especially based on an immutable characteristic) must be part of that group. Like, let me know when I magically transformed into a man.
