Peace time militaries are lead primarily by pussies. Joining right now would only hamper your progress as a man based off where you're coming from. It doesn't instill discipline anymore and the coolest shit you will likely do is get bombarded with new policy changes requiring you to need to retake you SHARP (Sexual Harassment Prevention) course because someone lost your certificate from last time and also because your commander has his higher ups telling him to make sure each person is current on that all important shit. You should only join the military right now if you want to be at the bottom of a pile of shit, where at best you eat your way to the upper portion.

In short, unless you have royally fucked up Your life and need to remove yourself from your current situation, make yourself the man you want to be. Don't expect some peace time military to do it for you.

Edit: I can say I did it, and it's one of the few regrets I have in my life. I'm happy to finally be out. I chose to create my own opportunities and I can tell you that it's way better being a man who lives on his own terms, rather than being beholden to an increasingly pussified and politicized brass that couldn't give 2 shits about you. If war breaks out, then wait a year or two for the underperforming pussies to get weeded out, then consider joining if you need it to feel like you're a ManTM

I joined when I was 23. Had been thinking about joining the military for years. So, I signed up and got accepted. Months in, I realized it was not what I expected it to be like, so I quit.

I don't regret joining though. If I wouldn't have done that, I would still be thinking about it to this day. I'm glad it's over though.

Air Force tech in the Canadian military here.. joined at 19 and it was the best move of my life. The pay is good, and it gives you stability when you are least stable... it let me set myself on the right track of self improvement while not having to worry about literally anything besides my career.

I've seen guys as old as 35 in my flight in Basic. Early 20s is a perfectly normal age to sign up.

since you have a degree, go to OTS, not enlisted. You will be the same age as everyone else

I knew a guy that joined the US Army reserve at 39. Went through basic, AIT, ranger and jump school, and did a deployment to Afghanistan. Don't think age is a deterrent for you.

Some guys don't have or like the more disciplined and lifestyle that's impacted by the hierarchy of rank. Some guys get in and thrive in it. I'd not let a friend with a bad experience influence my thinking if I were you because you never know which he is.

And going for officer would be the way to go if you can. I will ask if you're set on the Chair Force or if you're open to other branches? If I were young again, I'd definitely be considering Navy or Coasties. Between maritime security, drug interdiction, rescuing boaters in distress, etc. - the Coasties actually see a lot of "action". Not as much boring cruise time as the deep water Navy.

I've enjoyed all 8.5 years so far, everything I own and all the life experience I have is from the Airforce. Started as active duty, went to the guard as a full time guy. Absolutely worth it. I'm not a blue-blooded gung-ho Airforce dude by any means, but it's made me travel the world, bought me a house, a nice car, motorcycle, sailboat, kept me in shape, the works. I say go for it.

There is no "too late" to join the military.

I joined the infantry at 26. You're better off joining late in life anyway. My infantry course left a trail of broken 18-19 year olds that couldn't physically hack it. This idea that you need to join the military at 18-19 is ludicrous.

I doubt the Air Force is “so bad” with that being said there are absolutely exceptions to the rule. And everything is perspective.

But your not talking about the Army/Marine corps here bro.

If you want to join as a test, i dont thinknthe airforce would donthat for you. It has the shortest and least physical bootcamp. The only members that do anything close to fighting are the officers in planes. Unless you become a PJ
