So I just came back from a class called representing race. The teacher seems to be a really big feminist.He says that "Allthough we can''t see it, white men have male privilege because they're white and male". He also went on to talk about affirmative action, from which me and another guy started discussing how all it does is promote discrimintation as a means to stop it. His response was that "for the time being, it's the best way to stop discrimination in the workplace". Me and the other guy then said that people should merit their job, and not be offered it because they're women or such, to which he responded that "this ensures that everyone is equally represented in the workplace". He then went on to say that women didn't get the vote until 1920, and that women "are deemed lower than men in today's society". Me and the otheyr guy were both pissed off, beucase in this guy's head, he thinks quota on female employment is a good thing, since it promotes equality. I then told him that we should focus more on merit and not gender, to which he responded "but then women would be underrepresented". SOrry about the post, but he's a really annoying dude, since he only managed to talk about the victim's side and not from both sides.
