This addresses a major men's rights awareness issue, the gender imbalance in who is allowed to inflict violence and how the victim is allowed to respond - who gets blamed or even arrested. This comic definitely belong in this subreddit.
The message is still pretty radical, even now.

I agree completely. And that is whole point of posting this image strip. I was reading this comic after a long time, and it struck me as amazing that comic book writers have been quite progressive regarding such issues which, as kids, we could barely understand how big of a deal it was even to portray such acts of real equality. The basic premise of this comic is that "you do a bad thing, expect to be treated likewise - whether you are a man or a woman is irrelevant". At least, that's my take on it!

Oh no she's a she, the thing here is that Booster Gold, the guy who hits her, is from the 25th century and traveled back in time to the "now" of the comic world.
So in the future he is from there is actual equality, or at least enough of it for the "you wouldn't hit a girl" thing to not be any kind of issue.
That said in comics, and most fictional stories, it isn't uncommon for women who actually deserve to be hit to get hit. If fact I'm sure there is a "trope" about such women doing something horrific then playing the "poor innocent girl" card ... and then getting beaten down.

Booster gold has a hilarious back story. In the future he is the equivalent of a janitor so he goes back in time to a point where his tech gives him the powers of a "superhero" instead of just a janitor. He is supposed to be very vain and trying to become famous.

You're correct! Booster Gold used to be my one my favorite characters growing up, and then I realized that he actually didn't have any real powers, but got them thanks to the gear he stole from the museum where he was working. It really pissed me off to see him beat the shit out of Superman in one of the issues back in '88(?) though apparently it turned out to be Metallo(IIRC).
