After taking the red pill (realizing the actual situation of men in society today), people tend to form into three kinds of groups: PUA, MRA, and MGTOW.

PUA attempt to exploit the status quo (not too popular here due to their poor and exploitive views of women).

MRA attempt to change the status quo. These are the ones who believe change is within our reach.

MGTOW attempt to be legally free and do what they want in the status quo believing that change won't be coming for a while, so they might as well take care in the meantime. For some, this means they become aware of the issues and avoid the worst situations. For others, it means they avoid marriage as dangerous and often avoid LTR for the same reason. Some take it to the next step and realize that short-term relationships are even more exploitive and dangerous than long-term ones, so they simply avoid women as a general rule.

To sum up MGTOW logic I would say that they believe a relationship/family is a great thing, but hardly worth the risk given today's society and laws when life is so much more than a partner and some children; when life has so much that you can do when not tied down and not at risk or actively being exploited.

That's the main gist of it.

Is cohabitation with a woman allowed?

Yes.

Essentially it's a "be what you want to be and do what you want to do" philosophy. Don't let society's expectations dictate your life. I'm not MGTOW so I'm sure one will come in and explain it better but if you want to be with a woman it's not like it's forbidden or something. You know the risks and if that's what you want to do then do it.

Basically it is a group of men that have decided that following the basic narrative of find a woman, get married, make babies, and support the wife and kids is not what they want. Many come to this concussion in different ways. Some have decided that the risks out weight the rewards and don't make that gamble. Some, as feminists would say in an attempt to shame that man don't want to grow up, are happy with the single life and exploring themselves and or the world. And that is really just the tip of the iceberg. There are any number of legitimate reasons as to why a man doesn't to follow the social narrative.

Personally I would love to find a woman, fall in love maybe get married and have 2.5 kids, but I don't need it.

That is just a label for men who for one reason are not interested in seeking relationships with women, despite being heterosexual. They vary widely in reasons for doing so, and what they do instead but they have in common that they aren't happy or comfortable with their own gender role, since that by definition includes seeking attention, approval, and admiration from women.

Some see it as their own personal issue - they have no opinion on gender roles in general, but can't or won't live up to their own. I know many such people: introverted men, often with obsessive hobbies, who have gone through life steering clear of women. These typically do not self-identify as MGTOW.

Those who do self-identify as it are usually pretty angry about their situation and negative to women, in a somewhat muted mirror image to gender-separatist feminists.

MGTOW is very subjective. It stands for Going their own way. MGTOW are concerned in legal and personal framework of the benefits of Relationships/marriage/women. Some MGTOWs are soley per-occupied with legality which is more akin to MRA Some MGTOWs are governed with Legal as well as personal benefits and costs of Women in general. MGTOW share a lot of female traits such as Solipsism and Narcissism to a degree. Not surprising since a lot of MGTOW come from family units that lack traditional male guidance.

I am MGTOW but I am in a long term relationship but I am in it because it benefits me. My SO makes more money then me, which protects my personal agenda as well as legal agenda. Its an economical contract in essence.
