I'm new to RP, but I've been thinking I line with these ideas for about 2 years now. I've been lurking here for about 2 months, I've read almost all the posts, and most of the sidebar, but I apologize if this has been addressed and I missed it.

My fiancé and I have 2 young boys. A 2 year old and a 3 month old. Since having them I've been thinking a lot about their lives and what I want for them, which has led me to RP. I want them to find women who will respect them and follow them. I realize that I need to clean up my act as well. I have always been bossy, but since I had my first son, I've changed and I think I'm a pleasant person to be around. I've stopped swearing (though I never swore around the kids), I've started asking my SO questions like "What do you want to do/eat/etc?" I'm a SAHM, so I already cook, clean, and pack his lunch, and I've been trying to be more submissive.

My SO is not an alpha, I want him to rise up and be a leader and a strong role model for our children. Unfortunately, I don't think this will be as simple as some of the other posts I've seen. He's been emasculated his entire life. His mother is the shrew of all shrews. She's berated him in front of me, which makes me sick, but ever since she's married an old fashioned man, he kind of keeps her in check. His father has never been a part of his life. So this is a man whose mother is terrible and has never had a male role model.

When I met him, he was the definition of a beta orbiter, but he was sweet and just kind of followed along with whatever I wanted to do (which to me was perfect back then). I honestly didn't expect it to be more than a rebound, but after a few months, I became pregnant, and while I am pro-choice, I couldn't personally abort. (Don't use the depo shot.)

He's a very nice man, but I have trouble respecting him. I've been trying to let him call the shots, but sometimes he doesn't make the best decisions. What do I do in situations where his decisions are obviously in his own interests and not our family's?

I really need some advice. I'm sorry if I'm all over the place. What else can I do to build him up? Is it even a possibility after the way he was raised?

Edit: THANK YOU ALL! It's one thing to lurk, but for you to share your thoughts about my situation is so eye-opening. Every comment was helpful and I'm so grateful for this support.
