I introduced my SO to my parents when I was staying at their house for the weekend. (SO & parents live in the same town, I am about an hour away) He was picking me up for a date about a month and a half into the relationship. He said hello, brought flowers for my mom, and then whisked me away. It was easy!

When I met his parents it was a bit more intimidating as we went together to their house (about 5 hours away) for the weekend. It was the first trip we took as a couple and a very good one at that!

Just give him a heads up about any quirky personality traits your parents may have and keep reassuring him that they're gonna love him! <3 Best of luck

Congrats on the great new relationship! My BF & I experienced the world's worst parental introduction... I'd say, prep him on subjects your parents enjoy discussing, explain the family dynamic to him beforehand, if you have siblings, consider introducing a sibling or two first.

Your boyfriend sounds like an excellent young man. If you trust your parents and know that they love you and look out for you, then you can trust that they will also come to love your boyfriend. Don't try to force them to be friends or have a close bond. Be patient, don't assume that they will launch into adoring him. Let them form their own connection, so that it can endure over time.

My sister made the fault, when she was dating, of telling us that we need to love her boyfriend and make him a part of the family. You can't force family. You can't force a relationship. You can give it opportunities to grow, but you can't make something happen when one (or both) parties is adverse to it. Being patient and respecting that they need time to adjust is a huge factor to a successful marriage.

My parents used to rather hate my husband (when we were dating). It was really because they never spent time with him (living in different cities) and didn't like that we moved in before marriage.

Now, they adore him. They call him their "long lost son" and always ask about him, even before they ask about me! Even my mother, who isn't close to her other son-in-law and future daughter-in-law, adores DH and is very comfortable with him. She tends to be very shy and quiet, but with him she doesn't stop talking! When we visit, I come into the kitchen and I see them laughing hysterically and then tell me that I wouldn't get the joke. I never thought I would be out of the loop in their relationship, but I can certainly respect and appreciate that she has formed her own bond with him. She buys him his favorite foods and makes sure that he is comfortable. She always tells me to be nicer to him. I don't know why because his mother tells me that I am spoiling him.

His kindness, charm, intelligence, and hard-working approach to all things won them over. Of course, he always makes me incredibly happy and he takes good care of me, of us.

Wow everyone took a while! My SO actually met my father on our third date, before we even became exclusive, haha. Simply because we were going somewhere near where I lived and he picked me up nearby, where I happened to be with my family.

He also brings me home after dates, so of course I invite him briefly for a little drink or anything like that before he drives home. Of course, my family is there. He actually gets along with my father and they have had great discussions about politics, sports, etc. We are all a part of it and I just love listening to them? :)

Well... My mom met my bf back in September when we'd fairly recently just become FwB. I had just signed divorce papers and she came out to visit me to offer support. We live on opposite coasts, so I don't see my family but maybe once a year now. It wasn't bad and he hung out with us a few evenings. My mom shared my bed during her visit, so he stayed at his house in the evenings. He also met my mom's sister in late August, too, when she was in town for a conference.

In January my bf met my brother and his gf when we all celebrated my bday in Vegas. It was a longer weekend trip, but we all had a good time.

Originally, my plan was to take my bf home with me in July to celebrate my grandmother's 94th bday, my dad's bday, and my brother's bday. Within the past two weeks that's changed to my brother getting married over the weekend I'm there, so now the poor guy is going to get lambasted with tons of family and friends all at once.

My dad will like him, and actually I believe my neighbor (basically my surrogate dad) will really like him, too. My neighbor is the one he really has to impress, though, LOL! He's already asked my brother for the "scoop" on my bf. My bf knows that my neighbor is that stereotypical dad being protective of his daughter...Whereas my dad is pretty chill.

I'm looking forward to introducing him to everyone, though!

I met my bf's parents when my ex husband and I were invited to his dad's Western themed bday party Sept 2015, so I'd had several interactions with them prior to us dating. They're lovely people and I've cooked dinner for them twice. We're all going to the movies this evening, too.
