First of all, I think it's best to keep traditional views to yourself in today's political climate. Live your life as you please, but I wouldn't go around shouting about it.

Second, there's nothing wrong with wanting your man to provide, but I think there are some nuances here you need to be careful about. Back in the day, women stayed at home but men worked, but the division of labor was still equal. That is because the woman's role in the house (child-rearing and doing all the chores at home) was just as time-consuming as the man's role. In a modern situation, if the woman is sitting at home not doing much, and the man works his ass off to provide, this can cause resentment to build overtime (even if the man initially agrees to it.) If you expect him to provide, you have to make sure you are pulling your weight domestically. Good luck.

Keep in mind that being a housewife is so much more than laundry and cooking. It's budgeting, upcycling, repairing, deep cleaning and sanitizing, all of that without children. It's not about you 'feeling' like a woman, it's work.

That being said, women have been shamed for less. In a facebook group some women complained that it's not fair that feminine upkeep is so expensive. I replied that being a man is also expensive, because they compensate by buying gifts and paying for dates. The replies I got back from those women? That I am materialistic and that I do not strive for equality for expecting my man to buy me gifts and pay for drinks (dates in our culture are drinks or coffee, not full meals or movie theatre). Good luck in life for them ...

There is nothing wrong with wanting a traditional decision of labour. However, I don’t think the value you mention you bring to the relationship constitutes to even a part time job. So if I were you, I would make sure those are equal, to prevent resentment on both sides. And personally, I don’t think getting your nails done is putting effort into your relationship. Most man couldn’t care less about your nails. So while the premise is fine, I do think you need a bit of reality check.

There is nothing wrong with the way you want to live your life, especially if your partner agrees with it. My husband pays all of the bills and I run the household by watching the kids, tending the house, and keeping up the yard. My husband wants me at home. When we host I do most of the work there as well. It’s probably the way people interpret equality via the sexual and feminist revolutions, but to each their own.

Ugh I know how it feels to have so many women attack you instantly for having more traditional views on love and marriage, but my boyfriend really wants that life for us and so do I. It’s best just not to say much, especially here on Reddit where everyone is so extremely sucked into the blue-haired kind of feminism.

My philosophy is this - I’d rather have a happy home life than a more affluent work life where we’re both tired, eat fast food more, etc etc.

In a marriage, any income earned is equally the husband and wife’s. All of our income goes into a joint account. I contribute significantly to our household accounts as I have an excellent income though. I think going into a marriage viewing it as his money and your money — instead of joint money— will long term be damaging. Totally ok to be a SAHM or house wife, just once married you both need to view any money you earn in the marriage as also being the other persons money too.

There is nothing wrong with traditional women or traditional views, the problem is a lot of men and women in this day and age primarily in the west have very different views on what their expectations are in a relationship. More people believe in 50/50 relationships but purely as it relates to financial responsibility, the sad thing is the traditional females role has become under valued and now seen as an archaic concept.

I would simply say this, you need to find a like minded partner, if a woman wants to be traditional, she needs a man that fully understands and believes in those concepts. Me personally, I am very traditional and would prefer a woman to stay home with the kids until they can be on their own. But individuals like us are a rare breed in today's WESTERN climate.
