Yes, we are biologically hardwired to be attracted to people that have pheromones that are the opposite of our. Mating with people with different pheromones than us enhances our offsprings chance of survival.

Pheromones definitely play into account. That's why you can feel so 'on' with one girl and a little 'off' with another. It factors into how they taste to us, how we taste to them, smell, look, etc etc. It's ridiculous how subtle the effects are but they are there. That's why you can feel great 'chemistry' with someone. We use that term when things just feel right with them, but we really can't describe what we mean by that

I doubt it was pheromones. Probably most a combo of nerves and lack of chemistry. Also, if you're watching porn and beating off then obviously you're going to have problems with real women.

I've found that looks do not correspond to how good a girl is in the sack at all. I've fooled around with a few hotties that were so self conscious and nervous and uncomfortable with themselves that I didn't even bother having sex with them. I've been with some gals that weren't much to look at, but were so confident and enthusiastic and comfortable in their own skin that I've had the time of my life with them. On the other hand, some hotties are awesome in bed and some plain janes are worthless.

So what? Next her. Be nice, tell her you just don't feel it. Have some understanding if it ever comes in the reverse; a girls seems good to go then changes her mind at the last minute. Move on. Don't let it bother you.

Do I believe there are subconscious cues which arouse me? Yes. I am starting to detect when a woman is aroused, it's a strange feeling and a turn on. If she is stressed in a negative way, do I detect it? Yes. Do I realize I detected it or does my mood just change without me knowing why....

Perhaps the two of you had no chemistry. Perhaps she wasn't turned on. Perhaps she needed a shower, or perhaps she was simply too clean.

We do smell adrenaline and cortisol and react to those hormones, also the smell of blood. Does this mean we react to pheromones?

As far as I'm aware, humans don't release "true" pheromones.

Pheromones are a subset of all of the possible chemical compounds an animal body can release, of which scents are another, though closely related, subset. There are definitely subtle scents that some people will find attractive, and others will find disgusting (look at Cilantro - half the population thinks it smells/tastes like rotting flesh).

However, scent is not the same as pheromones. To date, it has not been proven that humans have pheromone receptors.

Quick Google search showed this as the pre-requisites for the pheromone theory:

To establish that a human pheromone exists, we would need to demonstrate first, that the human body produces chemical secretions that have pheromonal properties; second, that we have the ability to detect these secretions when exposed to them; and third, that we respond to their presence in a consistent way (for example, by feeling increased levels of sexual desire or passion).

And this second article cuts to the chase:

...there is no evidence of a consistent and strong behavioral response to any human-produced chemical cue.

If the chemical does not trigger the same unlearned (instinctive) response in every human that is exposed to it (at least categorized by gender for the purpose of sexual stimulation), then it does not qualify as a "true" pheromone.

Since one woman could be as equally disgusting to a man as she is attractive to another, there is yet to be any significant proof that pheromones are a factor.

If there was any subliminal biophysical factor, it would most likely be one of personal preference.

I.E.: you just weren't that into her.

Science proves this without belief. Any species which has pheromones elicits a response, such as arousal, fear, etc.

Did you know there's even spiders that emit sexual moth pheromones? They do this so their food thinks it's time for a lay and instead becomes dinner.

This is pure science.

It's also very profitable. All the higher-end perfumes & colognes are laced with artificial pheromones to stimulate sex-drive in the opposite gender.

It's not a joke to say dogs can smell fear and it's equally true you can smell an alpha or a beta by scent.

Why the fuck do you think dogs smell each other like that? That's why. They want to know who's pack-leader & it's not only actions that show it. Any alpha-faker is immediately exposed by beta-pheromones.

pheremones a very real, although one cannot actually smell them!

Mt grandma used to say the best way a guy could attract a women was "to go and get all sweaty chopping a pile of wood" (or similar, you get the gist of it)

Generally, if she wasn't particularly ugly or fat or anything you should have been able to get it up regardless of whether or not the two of you are an ideal biological match, so that wouldn't have been the problem. More likely it's something psychological that was preventing you from enjoying it

Science has a lot to say about people (and animals) being instinctively inclined through their sense of smell to seek out mates that have a significantly different genetic make up. That's what people are talking about when they refer to sexual chemistry
