Hey guys,

So I have been seeing this girl casually for the past few months. We are pretty into each other, and we have already had many sexual interactions with each other. The only problem so far is I don't know how to handle her best friend, who happens to be a guy.

Their history is that they are best friends with each other, and that they have slept together on numerous occasions in the past. Although they are not sleeping together now, they are still physically close (hugging, cuddling, lap sitting, etc), and they spend a lot of their free time together. As such, she has been hesitant to take the next step with me (relationship level) because he is clearly still in love with her, but she only sees him as a really good friend. I am pretty patient, but I am coming up at an impasse.

I will not be living in the same city as her within a couple of weeks, so I have a choice to make. I can break things off with her when I leave, and not have to worry about this. Or, I can enter an LDR with her, but that would mean that she and her best friend would basically spend all their time together, apart from the little amount of time I can spend with her. I am not interested in being FWBs/fuck buddies, because it would basically place all the burden on me to go out and get some.

She has said that she loves me, and she is very satisfied sexually. I like her too and find her attractive, but the combination of her relationship with her best friend and that fact that we would be LDR is setting off markers. I want to push for a relationship, but how should I move forward?

EDIT: Thank you guys for all your advice. It is important to remember that women don't love in the same way that men do. She loves what I provide, but not me. As soon as I am gone, she will go get what she needs from someone else. Even though I can count on myself to be 100% loyal to her, I know that deep down I can never trust her to be 100% loyal to me. She is a sweet girl, so I am gonna show her a great time before I leave, and then move on with my life. There is an ocean of possibility in the future that we call tomorrow.
