I grew up in a rich, yuppie neighborhood. I was always raised and told everywhere I went to always assume the best in people, and help others when I had the opportunity to make a situation just.

However, this summer, I started working at my Dad’s property management company, and I have learned a lot about the true nature of people. Perhaps it should be another red pill truth that some people are really out of get you if they know they can take advantage of you, so that is why you should never break frame.

Last week, I had two situations that confirmed that for me. So last week, I ran a woman’s credit and she didn’t qualify for an apartment, which my Dad’s company manages and was for rent, so I told her she didn’t qualify, and I thought I was done with her. But, she called me later that week and said that she wanted her money back or the apartment. I asked her what money is she talking about. She claimed that she met me (or someone that claimed to be me, she didn’t know) and gave them the first month’s rent and the security deposit. She also said she had a receipt signed by me.

At first, because there is someone that looks like me in the office whom I don’t really trust and I felt I was being blamed, I told her that I was going to talk to him and see if he was the one that took it. The guy told me that he didn’t take the money, and I believed him. The story sounded fake, but I felt that I was being accused and I felt bad for the people because they told me that they were going to have to live out of their car because they didn’t have any money whatsoever now because they had gotten scam, and I felt bad for them, so I really wanted to help them out. I was nice and polite.

Later, the girl put her brother on the phone, and he started badgering me and threatening me. He told me to get the money to him that day.

I later told my Dad what was going on and he told me that I was a moron — people aways take advantage of you if they know they can and they break your frame. He said he would have handled by saying: “I didn’t take your money, and I don’t know who did, good bye.” Then, he would have blocked their number.

Edit: the woman was trying to scam me. She stopped badgering me after I told her I knew I didn't take the money and no one I knew did.
