Note: What you are about to read is not a theory or about something I have read somewhere. I am merely typing about my personal experience and observations. What works for me may not work for you but I think this glimpse into my world should be helpful to those who are unplugging and do not necessarily know what things can look like in the future with MRP. A lot of the posts I have seen deal with solving problems and clarifying/expanding upon RP theory. I love those posts. I wish I could write like some of you but I tend to write like a simpleton. I am not the best writer nor am I a psychology-type. I will happily reserve those type of postings for the mods and posters who really know how to formulate a thesis and convey a message with a well-written and thoughtful analysis. This post, as with most of the things I will write (and have written) are pragmatic and are about things that I actually practice in my life.
Texting is the lowest form of communication, period. Texting makes it is difficult to gauge context, emotion, subtext, and meaning. Think about all the other forms of non-verbal communication that one necessarily displays when talking in person (and to an extent, over the phone) and that are absent via texting. Emoticons are helpful but only to a certain extent. In fact, a poorly written post in MRP can easily get misunderstood (I have even written one before, perhaps this one will be misunderstood too) and that happens even when we take time and energy to thoughtfully type out a message.
Women love texting. In fact, all of my past relationships involved a good amount of texting. It seriously sank my ship on more than one occasion. That continued until I realized that texting is the lowest form of communication, period. Looking back, I am shocked at how many arguments were created and weekends ruined because of a text message taken out of context (usually on her part sometimes on mine). I had to take a look at what I was doing. In simplest terms, texting a long drawn out substantive conversation (including fights) automatically enters you into HER frame. The miscommunication literally feeds her fucking hamster. Its like turbo fuel. Once I realized this, I tried to cut all substantive text conversations from our relationship.
Not surprisingly, Lady Yoaked loves texting. Thankfully, I have not fallen back into that trap of my old ways. Most of our texts are non-substantive and are generally light convos about: getting coffee, hows the day, thinking about you, what time you off work, sexting, and flirting. For example, she is more likely to complain about her day/boss but I gave up on trying to solve her problems and usually respond with "you should punch your boss in the leg, what a bitch!" This keeps it light. If she texts me she is getting a salad for lunch, I might respond with "I can feed you some nutritious protein if you want ;-)" I may text her that I am thinking about her. If she asks what I'm thinking, I may respond with "hehe" or "naughty thoughts." This keeps the texting on the flirty level. We do have light conversations via text but I like to make sure I flirt with her everyday. Just remember: no substantive conversations via text and no fighting via text. Pick up the phone and call if it is important. Heck, pick up the phone to call and ask about her day. Bishes love that.
You might be thinking, what is a substantive conversation/text? What in the fuck is this dude talking about. There may not be any real definition. Perhaps others can opine about what substantive really means. Now that I think about it, do you remember the old addage "you know what porn is when you see it"? Taking that line of reasoning, you will know what I am talking about when I say substantive texts. But suffice to say, once the text message enters into the realm of a serious conversation or her picking a fight or you getting defensive about something she said, you must disengage immediately. Once I learned to do this, my life forever changed. Do not feed her fucking hamster when texting turns into fighting. Disengage. Do not feed that fucking hamster.
But where does that leave us? I cannot tell you what will work in your relationship but I will reiterate that most of my texts inevitably turn into a sexual flirtation with Lady Yoaked. I use the eggplant emoji almost daily (including all the smiley faces and hearts and shit). In fact, I have a love-hate relationship with emoticons. Some days I am thankful they were invented and some days I really resent their creator. I guess what I am trying to say is that I try to use texting for light conversations and flirting/sexting. This is important. You must be flirting with your lady. Because of this, she flirts back and initiates sometimes with her own "thinking about your eggplant" texts. Don't get me wrong, I still ask about her day, tell her I am thinking about her, or ask if she wants a coffee when I am getting ready to meet her but I can assure you one thing, I flirt everyday over text. I ask what color panties she is wearing, send me a pic, etc. If she is at the gym, I tell her to make sure she squats because I love that ass. Since I have set the tone, she rarely gets into anything serious over text. I lead and she followed. In other relationships, sadly, I fell into the trap and it sunk my ship.
Caution If you are "unplugging" I can probably bet that your shit is all fucked up. I have been there. Now it is time to learn what not to do and where you can eventually get to (if where I am is a place you want to go). Now, if me and my Lady were not on solid footing or if I was in a transition period (from BB to AF), I do not think this would go over as well. But because I have already laid the foundation in our relationship, things remain sweet, and I sext and flirt away. It is very rare that we text fight or a fight ensues because of text miscommunication (knocks on wood). If you are new here (aka in the first couple of months), DO NOT just jump into the sexting and flirting routine, it may repulse her and backfire. Lift first, build SMV, change course and stop substantive text conversations and cease all text fighting. Once you have a hold of that, then you can start the flirting and sexting routine. I'd say that if your non-texting relationship feels like it did when you were first dating, then it would be a good time to up the sext and flirt game. Until then, you probably risk her being shocked and disgusted at your new behavior.
This is getting rather lengthy. I only intended it being a short piece but I suppose there is something of value here. I am not kidding. I have literally been ruined and have ruined entire days/weeks/relationships from misunderstood texts. You must realize this and correct the ship. Texting should be light-hearted and should not involve substantive conversations or fighting (in case you were wondering: most logistics-related conversations are not substantive).
TL;DR: Texting is the lowest form of communication, period. Do not text substantive conversations and do not fight over text. Be careful, it is very easy to push the send button. Think first. Keep it light.
