Before the year ends, I just wanted to come out of the shadows and thank you guys for all the great stuff you've posted.
I was amazed when I read so many posts that went "I was alpha when I got married but how did I become so beta over time? And how do I climb back up?" This describes me too.
As this article shows nature may have evolved us to have varying levels of testosterone as the situation needs. Check this section from the article:
- having higher testosterone to start with actually predicted that they’re more likely to become fathers, possibly because men with higher testosterone were more assertive in competing for women or appeared healthier and more attractive. But regardless of initial testosterone level, after having children, the hormone plummeted*
Ok, so we were hi-Testo alphas at one point. So how did our testosterone drop? I can think of at least one reason: Go look up any website on how to boost your Testosterone and one of the ingredients is always sleep. Any of you Dads who remember the middle-of-the-night feedings/diaper changes will remember the sleep deprivation. This probably made a major impact on our testosterone levels. And as our testosterone dropped (and her hormones rose) we were even more willing to help out in the middle of the night, and lose sleep, etc etc. And the more beta we got, the more shit-testing we got, the more beta we got.
Anyway, go read the rest of the article. Yes, it's got some BP/Beta apologencia in there, but it's alright. Happy New Year guys.
