Doing the MAP, read the sidebar, things are progressing. I'd say I'm at dread level 7 - 8.

Question:

How much dread is too much? The wife has started to question my whereabouts. She did not ask questions directly but while complaining about me being late for dinner (shit test), her hamster let slip that she was questioning what I'm doing and whom I'm doing it with. She was not direct with these questions and I did not answer them. She slipped the questions in while complaining that I was rude for being late, not calling.

So on some level she is starting to suspect something but I have nothing to hide, I'm not cheating. I thought about her argument and later agreed with her that my lateness and lack of communication was rude and I'd find it inconsiderate if she did the same. Other than that I just A/A and moved on. I think she may have checked my phone recently while I was in the shower but again, nothing to find.

The question remains, is this a healthy level of dread?

I feel like I have two options here:

  1. Back off the dread, be better about comfort tests (I can be cold at times), and continue the MAP.

  2. Push the implied dread, let her hamster spin, continue the MAP.

And now for the plot twist:

I have in the past suspected her of cheating. No hard proof but the usual strange cell phone behavior and shit like that. Just possible indicators but nothing sure to go on. So I'm considering option 2 since it may present an opportunity to drag those skeletons out of the closet.

I'm not trying to accidentally nuke my marriage so I'm looking for feedback from the guys who have "been here, done that"...
