A small win- yesterday we went down to the giant fruit and veg markets 10 minutes before close and managed to get two weeks worth of fresh goods for under $15. It's super busy and fast-paced and involves lots of pushing and shoving and calling out which is not really my personality at all! But it was fun and he was so happy afterwards he bought us a cheap meal and we sat in the park and had an epic conversation. Yay.

A larger win- I've been organising us moving house. Today I managed to get an appointment to look through a really good house at a time when my SO was home from work, and I have already organised all the paperwork necessary to give to them. I texted him to let him know and he is stoked. Paperwork is his least favourite thing, so I take care of it where I can :)

So I was in Paris last week for a workshop, and SO joined me for the Friday/Saturday/Sunday. We bumbled around Paris trying to squeeze everything in and I was getting tired, which in the past would mean that I would get grumpy. I successfully kept my cool and kept smiling, even though I injured myself getting off the train (clumsy doesn't cover it).

When we got back to the hotel room he thanked me for not being grumpy even though I was tired. I even managed to keep my cool when we came home which involved getting a rail replacement bus, 2 Paris metro trains, the Eurostar, a London Underground train, a cross country train and then driving back to his. I can't say enough good things about the STFU method :)

I've been working on learning how to improvise cake recipes - starting with the basics and working out how to swap out ingredients to improve or change the flavour. It's going great so far - I improvised a coffee cake from a previous banana bread recipe, and while it wasn't PERFECT it tasted great. More importantly, I know what I'd need to add next to make it perfect - it didn't hold together so well so I needed an extra egg in the batter.

I feel like a baking chemistry nerd :)

I have a quick success story!

Ahem. So my bf and I were chillin while he was watching Rick and Morty and I got a call with really upsetting news. I asked my bf for a hug, which he gave me. He didn't want to dwell on this bad news, so he carried on with his evening and asked me to do the same. NOW! Pre-RPW, this would have pissed me the hell off. "OMG he doesn't care about me! Why won't he share my feelz!!!??!?!?!111" is what I would have assumed and dwell on for ages.

Now, as a year long member of RPW, I recognize the following and appreciate it:

He is his own person.
His feelings are not my feelings.
I am responsible for my own feelings.
Men and women express feelings differently.
Accept him for who is he is and what he is trying to do.
He helped me the best way he knew how.
He has strong emotional boundaries.
He encourages me to also have strong emotional boundaries BY EXAMPLE.
We still enjoyed each other's company.
Peace and harmony is always the goal.

I learned how to want and ask for things that mean a lot to me from RPW (just ask a few of the girls, I was a wreck this time last year) but I also know when to be mindful of my feelings and own the fact that their MY feelings. Laying my burdens on my bf....that's not his cross to bear. And I respect and appreciate him for maintaining that truth. It's a trait I admire and want to emulate as we continue getting to know each other and grow closer.

So thankers RPW! I think I made oodles of progress.
