The only reason why I'm in therapy, LOL!

How? How do you heal?

Podcasts, books, therapy, exercise, leveling up and FDS. I can't give you a roadmap since your road is different from mine. I can only tell you head north to the promise land of loving yourself enough to stop punishing yourself.

Emphasis on the therapy.
Look for someone with a doctorate who specializes in trauma. I found someone who does ACT and it's been magic for rewiring my brain.

Female friendships. Good ones. My two best friends saved me.
One by just being there at my worst at never leaving me. I don’t mean I was mean. I was a shell, destroyed. No personality or soul. When my ex left me at the altar at I lost my house and at the time I thought my future, she stayed steady. She’s hang out in my new shitty basement apartment. Sometimes for hours and in silence for hours. Eventually she coaxed me out. An hour. Two hours. A party we’d leave early. A dinner I would fake the whole night. Eventually I wasn’t faking it. And through that time I met my next best friend.
The other by challenging me to be better. She was more cut and dry. Point driven. We ended up with similar positions. Used some of the same operating software so we had a lot to talk about.
We ended up become job mentors to each other because of the corporate worlds we mimicked. Both got promotions around the same time. Gave each other advice. Different professional training to look into.
Neither are better friendships. One is just. Wherever you’re at, I’m there. And I don’t judge you. And the other is more like, you’re better than who you think you are and I’m going to level up ... let’s do it together.
There are sometimes I need one or the other. They both bring so much to my world.
They are the reason I healed. Women. Other women loving you. Teaching you that you’re okay how you are. But also, how to be the better you. Having strong women around you will bring you up. Help you heal. And eventually help you grow.

I don’t particularly “believe” in hypnosis (not bringing it up for discussion, it’s just relevant) but I was once at a demo for group hypnosis or maybe just guided meditation. She took us into our childhood bedrooms to speak to our single digit selves. And I immediately burst into tears.
“Hm,” I thought, “guess I DO have more work to do.”

This is why its important to take your time and heal yourself before jumping back in the pool. The more you love yourself, the less shit you tolerate.

Came on here looking for inspiration to help me through a tough situation and it didn’t take long to find it. Thank you. ❤️

I vowed to myself as a little girl that I would never be in a marriage like the ones my parents had. And I think that’s why gut feeling/intuition is so strong today, and why I ultimately always listen to it. I can’t resist it.

Too late for the first half of my life, but I'm working very hard to not keep repeating the mistakes. My 40s are my transitional decade and it has nothing to with menopause!
