It is weird but from person experience with OLD a few years back and girls I know now, it is constantly surprising to me that such a high percentage of women have zero hobbies/activities/personality/etc. It is really clear in media, where writers/creators of female lead characters seem like they try as hard as possible to avoid making their characters have depth.

Take Pam, outside of art and Jim, what’s her personality or hobbies? She likes jokes (for Jim), works, and ... loves her kids? Can’t think of anything else, and it isn’t just Pam. For example, the same is true with the main girls in 50 Shades of Grey or Twilight. I always thought they did that so that “everywoman” could relate to them, but now it just feels more like “everywoman” is that way.

I don’t get it, it must make life boring as heck. I’ve also made this point to my wife, saying that this illustrates that traditionally “male” hobbies are better than “traditionally” female ones because girls WANT to be included and take part in their male friends’ and SO’s hobbies. No guy has ever asked if he could go shopping or participate in his girlfriend’s hobby.

And even the few hobbies that mentioned are less hobbies and just stuff people do. “Oh you like eating. That’s a one in a million!” or “glad to find the one girl online that likes vacations/traveling.”

Girls don't have hobbies and rarely have anything interesting that they do. Girls are wired to be followers. They are wired to care about immediate relationships (think baby crying that needs immediate attention). Because of these innate features that comprise the wetware known as "women" they are able to bond to whatever man is in their life by adopting her interests from him.

So if this girl wants to be "less boring" her solution is....a time machine. Get with an "interesting" man and adopt his beliefs and interests.

You're in the presence of another person, you say something, they say something. That's 99% of relationships right there. If you're good at listening and you can say something interesting, you're fine. Whatever hobby you might be engaging in is completely irrelevant.
