God, everything is rape culture. I'm happy for those MRAs, but I could never deal with women like this. ( referring to comment section)

[–]RebootedMale 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

THIS. EVERYTHING is either 'rape culture' or third wave feminism. You are either a third wave feminist or you are an enabler/promoter of rape culter. There is NO in between. No shades of grey.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No shades of grey.

The irony.

These are the same twats that would read christiefrontdrive's Guide to Face-fucking Your Daughter if it became fashionable and empowering to be seen doing so.

facebook comments should have a downvote system too

[–]puaSenator 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Another case of women trying to remove agency from themselves. Check it out. Basically the writer is saying, "let's not kid ourselves. You aren't posing in lingerie to model, you're doing it for all the male attention you get from it. If you want to be respected as more than an object offer more than an object." The common response, "OMFG HOW ABOUT WE TEACH MEN NOT TO TREAT WOMEN LIKE OBJECTS INSTEAD??" Sort of like it's not the girls fault she wants to be treated like an object but men's fault for wanting to treat women like objects.

These fucktards never cease to amazing me with their irrationality.

the comments on this article almost made quit the internet for today. The author is being accused of contributing to rape culture and writing such a misogynistic piece. Im honestly so done with this bullshit, im working on making it an after thought. its all so useless and fucking stupid. Its just too hard for women to take any kind of responsibility and it makes me feel sick.

[–]randomdude600 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's like they are copy pasting from a hamster-base of shaming bullshit. I can't tell one feminist comment from another same emotional nonsense

[–]randomdude600 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who the fuck are you to tell women which ways are appropriate to achieve self esteem? What I gathered from this is that a woman shouldn't be showing her body unless she's getting paid for it? You make me fucking sick. And the bit about the "proverbial casting couch?" Please excuse yourself from life.

Yeah who the fuck are you to share your opinion on the internet, how dare you express a view that contradicts mine. Of all the nerve... menz

[–]GBralta 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The whole comment section is a must-read.

[–]ProjectionOfMyMind 23 points24 points25 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The one redeeming person from the comment thread was Patrick.

I'm going to stand by my original statement and say Rape Culture isn't something which can be 'promoted' by stating an opinion, but just for your sake I'll continue.

We live in a rape culture where male on male rape is not only very under reported, but also frequently joked about ("Don't drop the soap in prison!"). We live in a rape culture where a young boy gets raped by an older woman and people shrug it off, suggesting 'he's a lucky kid for bagging a 'milf''. We live in a rape culture where a woman can accuse a man of rape, destroy his life, then go ahead and say 'oops, he didn't do anything, sorry'. She gets a slap on the wrist, and we don't punish her because 'punishing false rape accusations will decrease real rape victims coming forward'. You can destroy a whole persons life because you FELT like it.

Rape culture is bullshit.

If you can handle the cringe.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes I can't. A lot of the links posted on this sub I can't make it through, it's just too embarrassing.

[–]slcjosh 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i had to refrain from throwing my laptop out my office window. I had to stop after the first few.

[–]tangman 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was a little crazy at first then I realized the site is "theproblemismen.com".

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. There's a whole clusterfuck of different views just thrown together. Great read; internet is taking too long to load this shit.

[–]boredinclass2 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Her facebook page is cringe worthy. Bratty B? Jesus Fuck...

I have been seeing people in this sub use the word "whom" too much and most of the time use it incorrectly. If you are one of those people then either learn to use it correctly or stop because it makes you look like you're trying too hard to seem smart.

[–]hamstercide 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't get it. If it was buff guys posting their pics on /fit/ or bodybuilding.com and 'mirin each other no one would give a fuck. Why is it such a big deal if they flaunt what they've got online.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I really like this Patrick guy i'll tell ya what

[–]trpMilo 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Article gets it backwards. There girls don't post pics because they have "low self-esteem." Those post pics because they have extremely high self-esteem, think they look fucking great, and want to show other people their bodies.

Case in point: What kind of guy posts semi-nude photos? Overconfident, asshole meatheads (not hating, I'm a powerlifter).

The funny thing really is that it's obvious the author doesn't actually think they have low self-esteem. Half his article is trying to convince girls that getting lots of views and likes online doesn't make them special, i.e. he's trying to lower their self-esteem because he sees it as artificially high. So why does he pretend like he thinks posting these pics is a sign of low self-esteem? It's a shaming tactic to get them to stop doing it, because no one wants to be thought of as having low self-esteem

[–]ThisShitRules 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I agree with the author. Although I also kinda agree with you.

Let's be honest, likes are external validation.

We have shitload of threads about /r/gonewild on this topic. They do that shit because they feel validated, and I've seen plenty album names about how the attention these chicks got made them happier so they came back for more. BTW this is not exclusive for women, there's also a sub like that for guys.

I would even say that it has a similar effect to alcohol. U wot m8? you might say, but bear with me. Alcohol is also an external source of, let's call that, good feels. Simply put, people drink to feel better. They also feel better when they get likes.

See where I'm going with this?

What confident (or maybe the better word would be content?) people have is internal validation. They know they are awesome and don't need others to tell them that. Hence, they don't post stuff like that for other people to validate them.

But in this instance, those chicks (or guys) are hot and know it. They are confident in their bodies. Which begs the question, why do they do that? Why do they need to be validated and get dat dere attention?

Maybe they're not that confident after all. Or maybe they feel like that's the only thing they have to offer?.

[–]slcjosh 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe they're not that confident after all. Or maybe they feel like that's the only thing they have to offer?.

Think about it, how many high value beautiful women do you know that post pictures of themselves nearly nude in front of a bathroom mirror, in front of their full body mirror in their dirty bedroom, or in a locker room?

Probably none, the reason for it is truly high value women know they are high value, know they possess fleeting beauty, and have the confidence and self esteem not to go begging for validation and attention from slobbering beta men on social networking sites.

[–]ThisShitRules 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, that was kinda my point.

[–]peopleofthepine 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For women it's just the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to validation. Take off your clothes & post pictures, it doesn't get any easier. Then sit back and soak up the incoming flood of validation.

[–]slcjosh 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I dont know, i feel like girls posting instagram sexy self shots, twitter, whatever, are all just begging for outside validation. They have to get it from others because they cant drum it up within themselves.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

They arent overconfident, any male who takes the effort to pose for a camera take a picture and hope for admiration or applause exactly like a women would do, is just compensating, whether its lack of personality, low self esteem, small dick etc. I find personally the better i look, the less i want people too notice. The overconfident dude, is the guy showing up in a xxl t-shirt whos walking around like he owns the place.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

solipsism?

It may be true in some cases, but blanket statements are too inaccurate. attention is fun and if you're, muscular and cut, posting your pics online is a quick way to get attention. Only reason why I don't follow suit, is i think real life is much easier and more exciting.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I hate to be this guy, but youre going to have to explain what you mean by solipsism, i did a quick look and im not sure if the standard definition fits, and of course, not everythings going to true 100% of the time, im sure theirs dudes who are just that high on themselves, but the majority, and seemingly everyone i know who does that just happens to fall into that insecure category.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I was implying that you're looking at things from mainly your perspective and experiences, rather than how other people may think or act.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well of course i am, how am i going to give an opinion from someone else's perspective?

[–]TaymoBroH 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You didn't give an opinion. You made a generalization.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, i gave my opinion of the people who do this based off of the people i know who again actually do this, read the comment, and dont sass me child. I have too much swag fo dat.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol. Women put their pictures online to be judged. So we judge them. I don't even know what this guy is saying.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The comment section is sickening. Typically feminist style of arguing, paint the person with a differing opinion in some negative light (In this situation 'Rape culture') and then sprout a bullshit argument about whatever the woman involve is being called on is somehow 'empowered'.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The bluepill is strong with the first comment on that post. Anyone who believes in rape culture deserves to experience rape of the worst kind..

[–]ScannerSloppy 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not that I care, but isn't it racist to call tits and ass "pink parts"?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And while we're talking, let's make something crystal clear: What you're doing isn't "modeling". Victoria Secret models pose on a professional photo set to sell lingerie and associated products for a company. In short: They get paid for modeling... they don't bare their pink parts dancing to Usher under a florescent bathroom light, sporting a pouty duckface with a Toy Story shower curtain as a backdrop. Models work.. what the hell are you doing? I'll tell you: Giving peeks of your naked self away to random lurkers/stalkers/pedophiles, that's what.

this guy should do stand up

[–]thedarkerside -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That guys Bio... Ugh. Of course he's a Mensa member, let's all bow down before his great "intellect".
