Most important thing i've learned from stuff like this is that "we're equal" has more to do with sounding nice than actual equal shares of responsibility.

[–]acedeucetrey 35 points36 points37 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for the link OP. Bookmarking this so I can read it again whenever I consider playing marriage roulette.

This one cracked me up:

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men & women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men think with their head and women with their heart. I have never figured out why the sexual desire gene gets thrown into a state of turmoil, when it hears the words ‘I do.’ Here’s an example of what I mean. One evening last week, my wife and I were getting into bed. Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says ‘I don’t feel like it, I just want you to hold me.’ I said ‘WHAT????!!! What was that?! So she says the words that every husband on the planet dreads hearing…’You’re just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.’ She then responded to my puzzled look by saying, “Can’t you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?” Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night I went to sleep. The very next day I opted to take the day off from work to spend time with her. We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, unnamed department store. I walked around with her while she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn’t decide which one to take so I told her we’ll just buy them all. She wanted new shoes to compliment her new clothes, so I said lets get a pair for each outfit. We went on to the jewelry department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings. Let me tell you…she was so excited. She must have thought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn’t even know how to play tennis. I think I threw her for a loop when I said, “ That’s fine, honey.” Smiling with excited anticipation she finally said, ‘I think this is all dear, let’s go to the cashier’. I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, ‘No honey, I don’t feel like it.’ Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled ‘WHAT???!!!’ I then said, ‘Really honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for awhile. You’re just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.’ And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, ‘Why can’t you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?’ Apparently I’m not having sex tonight either, but at least that bitch knows I’m smarter than her.

Good post, a lot of relevant information on poor marriages and RP in general. As someone always says in these types of threads:

Young men, ARE YOU LISTENING?

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I fucking hope they are. I dont want all of what us old guys have been through to be lost on the young guys. Damn it, I hope they listen and shit gets changed.

[–]dreamingawake09 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Young guy here(22), shit won't change. Yeah some of us won't get tied down to that bs, but, most will. Not trying to sound negative, just speaking the truth. Though, as a son of divorced parents, and still staying in touch with my father, I've learnt not to marry. Shit, my mother tells me the same thing too.

According to the 100th monkey effect a paradigm shift might be coming. Ever more men are turning to the red pill. Be it 5 years or 10 or 50(i hope not).

You will know that the paradigm shift is happening once you hear people discussing TRP in public and after that it's just a matter of time.

I don't remember who said it (or how so i'll paraphrase): "big change doesn't need many people only a small core of true believers"

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. It doesnt need to be everyone, just enough to make a difference.

When enough guys get fucked over, there will be a tipping point. Some still think they need to be the nice guy, the one who settles down and gets married so he can have kids and support a woman. Fuck that. No more Mr Nice Guy here.

My sister is in two weddings, one last week, the other next week. It appears some still havent gotten the memo.

The house I am building out in the woods will be my lair, and no there will not be a permanent female presence there... They will have to go home in the morning, or maybe that same night.

[–]mctoasterson 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's that old saying that goes something like, "Men marry women with the hope they will never change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. Inevitably, both are disappointed."

This is the biggest problem with marriage. Your woman's opinion of you will gradually and unfailingly decrease, since she essentially sees you as a project that she has failed at. All the things she doesn't like about you, she has somehow failed to mold or fix. While men can improve ourselves over time, our ingrained personality, moral and other intrinsic characteristics stay the same.

Meanwhile, you were simply hoping to hang on to the same hot, carefree, fun girl you knew when she was 18. But over the course of your marriage, her looks fade, she may not even try to maintain her appearance at all, she gives you less (and less) sex, and her life goals have shifted to be something completely different than what you signed up for.

Reading these men's cathartic posts has steeled my resolve to never EVER marry. Great post!

Which means don't marry, because women ensured that approach would fail by changing divorce to work in their favor.

Tell me how to do it right. Granted, I'll never need to employ it.

These quotes are alarmingly true. They seem so far-fetched to an outsider, that an unmarried person might think that these are just a bunch of exaggerating men, trying to be funny. They are not.

Marrying a woman and having a child gives your wife a knife, bares your throat to her, presses it against the blade, and begs her to hold still. Any time she wants -- ANY TIME, FOR NO REASON AT ALL -- she can cut you. You'll lose any hope of a relationship with your child(ren), one half of all of the wealth and belongings you've worked your entire life to acquire, and have all future earnings garnished and given to your former wife forever more (while she lives in the house she took from you, with her boyfriend, and your kids, while you support all of them and live in a tiny apartment you can barely afford with what's left of your paycheck).

Being a dominant alpha male helps, but never fully eradicates the sinister undercurrent that any time she wants, the woman can cash out of the marriage. This leads to women that don't work (or barely work), don't (or rarely) have sex with their husbands, don't stay in shape, don't do much in the way of housework or childcare (and complain about the little they do like they're unfairly burdened by the fact that they have to do anything at all), and constantly disrespect their husbands both openly and in private. The husband doesn't want to be a pussywhipped, beta loser, but if he really pisses his wife off, she'll take his kids and financially cripple him with the stroke of a pen. It's not an easy fix. A married man can't just go be alpha and be dominant, and suddenly his wife behaves. Because in the screaming bitch-fest moment of irrationality when a woman doesn't get her way immediately, she'll file for divorce.

Question: Why do men die before their wives?

Answer: Because they want to.

that must get said all the time but holy shit i've never heard it. i'm laughing so hard.

They eat while the man is at work. They’re like the Terminator going after food instead of Sarah Conner. They never stop. They can’t be reasoned with!

LOL

Not sure if advice is to spin plates forever, or to follow the way of /r/mgtow or www.mgtowforums.com ...

Just remember that what you are very clearly doing is called cherry picking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_picking_%28fallacy%29

[–]REDDITCanSuckMyCOCK0 points 12 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Implying it's cherry picking, when it's a fact that almost no weddings lasts now a days.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are engaging into another logical fallacy. The fact that a large percentage of marriages do not last does not actually in any way refute my claim of cherry picking.

[+]colucci -17 points-16 points-15 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

So hold up, let's all embrace dominance, control and strength but when something goes wrong, let's blame women.

This exert from the blog post sums it up -

Women will try to change you, it’s inevitable. What you can do at the minimum is look like you are alpha. Speak loudly, stomp, make noise, don’t take any shit. If she yells, yell back so she knows you won’t take that. At the same time, take care of responsibilities before she thinks about them. Only then will you have a ‘happy’ marriage.

Fuck OP's anti-marriage message. Don't be a fuckwit pussy and you'll be fine.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Controlling frame can work in short term relationships, but isn't as effective in marriages since women can simply ask for a divorce and take half of your money immediately (and even more monthly if you have kids).

Not married but I've seen my buds change as marriage goes on. Do I like what my friends have become? No. I do not blame the institution of marriage, I blame my friends for being soft and marrying women that are not compatible with them.

Fuckin eh, marriage is not beneficial to men in any useful way It is all risk, and when it goes to shit, its all negative for the man. Fuck that shit.

[–]da-way[🍰] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Blame the institution. Marriage is about giving up your greatest power as a man in your relationship...

I would amend that statement so:

Blame what the institution has become. Romantic [m]arriage is about giving up your greatest power as a man in your relationship...

all through history marriage was a financial and allegic (is that even a word? trying to say "for the sake of alliance") contract between two families and for the sake of creating a stable structure to raise children. It was expected, at best, that husband and wife were good friends. For example: Pompei the great was for example made fun of for being in love with his wife and Caesar had affairs, rather publicly, with the wives of his friends and enemies alike.

Until recently marriage was not based on something as whimsical as love(read: bunch of chemicals). And this was accepted, it was also accepted that people would have affairs on the side because marrage was a contract to create a stable environment for the next generation of humans to grow up in.

Here are some of my favorite philosopher's thoughts on the matter. Allow me to present Alan Watts - Love & Marriage (ninja edit: he gets into some eastern philosophy in the middle there. More stuff like the beginning in the last third)

...but i digress, you are clearly talking about what marriage is to day so don't let my hairsplitting bother you.

Reminds me of the Pro-Life argument on abortion. And how many stories have I read of a politician that is pro-life, then we come to know that he pressured his girlfriend into getting an abortion or something similar.

The one thing that I have learned through experience is to never give up my power.
