This is an example of feminists applying the concept of soft bigotry of low expectations. It is usually applied in a racial context, i.e., leftists and liberals who believe that blacks and other minorities must be coddled and given special privilege because they would be otherwise incapable of getting ahead on their own volition. They believe they are operating from a point of "compassion", but what they are really doing is saying minorities are inferior and therefore need extra help in life.

This is soft bigotry of low expectations being applied on a gender dynamic. Basically, these poor, poor young girls don't have any agency or personal responsibility, so gosh darnit we have to believe their unbelievable stories even if they don't wash with even the most basic of bullshit tests. We have to give them the "benefit of the doubt" and pursue an alleged "rapist" because the vagina holder said "rape". We have to lower expectations for women because they are incapable of rational reasoning.

By examining what happens inside the brain during a sexual assault, Campbell was able to explain 'strange behaviours' like tonic immobility ("essentially an entire shutdown in the body", also known as "rape-induced paralysis" - the reason a victim doesn't fight back despite knowing she 'should') and how stress hormones make it difficult for the brain to encode and consolidate memories (leading to fragmented memories and difficulty retrieving those memories, and explaining why police felt that stories were 'sketchy' or fragmented). Her research addressed "flat affect" and "strange emotions" from victims making reports.

How can you examine what happens inside the brain during a sexual assault? Serious question. Am I missing something?

The thing is, when people have experienced a traumatic event in which large amounts of adrenaline were pumped into their body, it's not likely that they remember the event exactly, especially if it's something they'd rather erase from their mind. Even people who were sober and fully cognisant whilst witnessing something may not remember it accurately later on.

You can't just say "there was an inconsistency here" and conclude "well, that means she wasn't raped." What you have to do is realise that all that matters is whether or not these inconsistencies will prevent it from being considered reliable testimony in court.

Obviously, I'm not arguing that belief should be the default position, but I don't think that this post is correct either.

Yeah, the police may not believe them in their heart of hearts, but that doesn't stop them from pretending to believe them if it will bring more slave-inmates into the pipeline. What they're really lamenting is the inability of the woman to act like a competent lying government stooge.

But if the woman has an ounce of brains, God help you if she's testilying against you because she'll be believed first.

Police: The "victim" is making a false report

Psychologist: The victim always tells the truth.

Both are right. However, the psychologist doesn't usually get paid by sociopathic attention whores for therapy to get over their ~~one night stands~~ rapes. The officer's job is to determine which reports are frivolous. Neither of them are wrong.
