People would probably see it different when society reaches a point that men are doing 50% of the childcare requirements to the extent that it doesn't interfere with a woman's earning potential. It is only a handout if there was no exchange/sacrifice made. Otherwise it is a partnership and needs pre-negotiated terms. I personally would never take spousal support in a divorce but would expect 50% of assets because I brought much more than that to the marriage.

Which family laws exactly are you talking about? I don't know of any that explicitly favour women over men.
